ARC REVIEW

Swati, Swati, Swati. Thank you for this incredible story!!

Let me start with this…

πŒπ„π π–π‘πˆπ“π“π„π 𝐁𝐘 π–πŽπŒπ„π πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

This is my first book from Swati, but I can promise you it will not be my last! This was her first go at a sports romcom, and y’all my girl left 𝗑𝗒 𝗖π—₯𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗦!

As a former single mom myself, Shay’s character was immediately relatable in so many ways. From the way she wants to protect Kai and his innocence, worrying about his happiness before her own, to the way she’s scared to fall for Rowan to only have him break both of their hearts. I was so happy to see that she let Rowan wiggle his way into her thoughts, and for her to start loosing her tight grip on control, and start allowing herself and Kai to have fun.

β€œWatched you walk in and check me out like you were fixin’ to make me your next meal. And while I’m usually the one to do the eating, I’m not entirely against being offered up on a platter for you, Doc.”

Rowan β€œSlick” Parker is the complete definition of π™žπ™› π™π™š π™¬π™–π™£π™©π™šπ™™ 𝙩𝙀, π™π™š 𝙬𝙀π™ͺ𝙑𝙙. He is gorgeous, confident, patient, sweet, nurturing, and underneath his tough athlete exterior he has a heart of pure gold. From their very first meeting after he’s injured on the ice and Shay (a physical therapist) is sent to check on him, Rowan is infatuated with her and boy does he let her know. The man very presumptively sent her a gold-played toy after meeting her one time!! π™’π™π™šπ™§π™š 𝙙𝙀 𝙄 π™¨π™žπ™œπ™£ π™ͺπ™₯!?

β€œThought I’d get you a replacement for the tool you keep inside your purse since you seem to have broken the other one . . . perhaps from overuse? Say yes.”

After she becomes his full-time PT, Rowan learns that Shay is a widowed single mom with a 9 year old son who also happens to be his biggest fan. What transpires from here is some very hot and heavy back and forth commentary between the two MC’s, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 π™€π™£π™š π™žπ™£π™˜π™§π™šπ™™π™žπ™—π™‘π™š 𝙗𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙀𝙀𝙒 π™¨π™˜π™šπ™£π™š, before Rowan finally breaks through Shay’s mental walls that have been holding her back and giving them both what they want. Rowan is a very smooth talker, β€œSlick” is his nickname after all, views toys as enhancers, and will make you π—•π—˜π—š for it without a second thought. The spice be spicing baby!

β€œShow me what you’ll look like when you’re on your knees for me, Doc.”

Aside from the obvious love story here, my favorite part of this book may be the immediate connection between Rowan and Kai.  You could just tell that Rowan adored this kid from the first meeting, and reading about that connection and how their bond unfolded was such a refreshing little side piece here that I really enjoyed.

β€œβ€“my buddy for life, Kai. He jumps up and down with his arms in the air, knowing I’m looking at him and only him.”

Just trust me and read this one. And when you’re finished make sure you sign-up for the bonus chapter because Rowan is even more swoon worthy there!

π‘€π‘œπ“‰π’½π‘’π“‡ π’«π“Šπ’Έπ“€π‘’π“‡ is book 3 of 4 in the MomComs series, but can be read as a standalone.

I struggled a bit with this one because I found Shae pretty annoying. She desperately needed therapy and I felt so bad that Kae was essentially living with someone who was pushing her fears onto him. I liked Rowan he was funny and I really enjoyed the insta love side of it but once again Shae was annoying about that too.
I thought the conflict was silly because it had an obvious fix and I wish we could have got to see Rowan actually living in the house because the best part of this series has been the found family side.
The audiobook was really good though.

Things I liked:
  • Kai was the sweetest little boy in the universe. I loved seeing him open up with Rowan and learn to be a little kid again.
  • Seeing Shay work through her fears and anxieties about losing her son was really well done. I could totally see where she was coming from. She really got on my nerves in the previous book because of that and this helped me understand her so much more.
Things I didn’t like:
  • I felt funny about her job and the way that he kind of pushed her into a grey situation. It just felt a bit icky to me.
