"Mother Pucker" by Swati Mh is a contemporary romance novel that blends humor, family dynamics, and the challenges of navigating love after loss. The story centers around a widowed single mom who faces stressors ranging from high fructose corn syrup to her son's safety, all while dealing with her attraction to a charismatic hockey player, Rowan 'Slick' Parker, whom she's also treating as a physical therapist.

The narrative has a mix of humor and heart as Shay relocates with her son to live with her three best friends and their children in a Boston brownstone. The precarious balancing act between her personal life, career, and the unexpected spark with Rowan sets the stage for a potentially engaging and entertaining read.

Shay has been leading a half-life since her husbandโ€™s passing, wrapping her loved ones in protective layers due to the fear of losing them.  Her friends affectionaltey refer to her as a โ€˜bag of neversโ€ reflecting her apprehension towards various aspects of life.

Shay becomes Rowanโ€™s physical therapist, where she is reluctant to mix business with pleasure. However, Rowan is determined to break through her fears and seduce the incredible woman he sees behind the protective facade. Their connection leads to Shay to realise she hasnโ€™t truly been living, and Rowan discovers thereโ€™s more to life than hockey. Roway has a caring nature, extending to Shay and her son Kai.

The novel is a lighthearted yet emotionally resonant story, exploring the complexities of love, grief, and the unpredictability of romance. The promise of a temporary arrangement that may leave lasting impressions adds an intriguing layer to the plot, leaving readers curious about the characters' journey and the development of their relationship.

This forms part of the MomCom series that contains 4 stories written by different authors.   I absolutely love this series, and the laughs that I have had.

I enjoyed this one even with the traditional romcom tropes.

Goddammit! Canโ€™t a girl get railed by her gold-plated vibrator, or get a decent smoke in for once in her life around here?!

I enjoyed this one even with the traditional romcom tropes. The reverse age gap gave the romance a really interesting spin, and the banter and tension kept me hooked. We didnโ€™t see as much of the other moms and kids in this book but there were still a few funny mishaps and we got to see Kai come out of his shell.
I think my favorite part was the look inside Shayโ€™s mind and even Rowanโ€™s. They both had complicated struggles between Shayโ€™s crippling anxiety and Rowanโ€™s past traumas with his family and ex.
I love that Blue Nose did this audio with a line by line narration. It just sounds better to my ears when the MCs have the same voice throughout the entire book. Samntha and Teddy both did a great job bringing the characters to life and pouring emotion and inflection into the story.

Fun Bits:
โšœ๏ธ Hilarious Banter
โšœ๏ธ Super Hot Chemistry
โšœ๏ธ Interesting Relationship Dynamics
โšœ๏ธ The Best Found Family Ever
