Loved this book! It was the right balance of sweet and lighthearted. 😊
Some highlights for me:
- Shout out to the OG players: Denzel, Jensen, Leonardo, George, Wayne and of course the last minute pick, Keanu 😁
- Delia’s absolute horror at Shay being on her knees 😂😂
- Delia breaking up with her fourth grade boyfriend because he was too entrenched in our systemic patriarchy 😭😭
- The lengths Beckett will go to to get Liv’s friends in relationships so he can finally move out of the house of horrors 😂😂😂
- So far, Roman seems to be the only one who has escaped the £1,000 fine and I feel some type of way about it. 😐
Highly recommend! Looking forward to Delia’s story!

“My mind starts buzzing with more questions, like how much am I willing to do for this woman? Am I willing to join a cult?”
Another great MomCom (with the meddling help of Beckett), this time we got to know Shayla, widow and single mom of Kai and Rowan, professional hockey player in need of a physical therapist.
Shayla has been an intriguing character since we met her in the first MomCom book, she is super cautious and will do anything and everything to protect herself and her son. She is constantly creating healthy smoothies and has a “well being” list with about a million things her son can and can’t do. Rowan is a young hockey player who is the exact opposite of everything Shayla currently is. He plays a dangerous sport and drives a sports car, two things Shayla wants nothing to do with.
But when Rowan gets hurt during a game and needs physical therapy, Beckett is able to get Shayla to be his PT. They are certainly an insta-attraction. Shayla is determined to avoid love and relationships to stay safe but Rowan is determined to prove that she can make some exceptions to her rules and be happier.
Rowan was perfect for Shayla to find her pre-marriage self and it was great to watch Shayla back up a bit on her protectiveness of Kai, although she will never get rid of her smoothies!
“You changed my life, Rowan Parker. You helped me find a new version of me, and I have no intentions of going backward, no intention of letting you go.”
They were a great match and Rowan is a great addition to the Beckett and Cortney bromance. Now to prepare for Delia who I imagine will be the toughest one to fall.
Thank you @swati.mh and @theauthor.agency for the ARC!

🎧 Since I live in this house now, after two books, and I am waiting patiently for Delia's story, I get to listen to this one as well.
🎧 By 19% of the book, Shay won me over. I did not expect that. Nor did I expect to be a tiny bit skeptical at the first interaction with him. Just a little though, because his forwardness with that voice is breath stalling.
🎧 I actually laughed out loud with this one, and that doesn't happen often.
🎧 Can I be a little offended for people who enjoy Sudoku, Mr. Parker?
🎧 These books, with these guys are totally ruining my brain. Who the hell am I? I will blame it on Mr Hamilton's voice.

Another phenomenal MomCom for the books! I, much like Rowan, was highly amused with Shayla and her sass. Just from what I had read from her POV in the prequel and from the other moms’ books, I had the impression that Shayla was the serious, cautious mom and didn’t know how this was going to be a comedy, but I very much stand corrected. I loved seeing Rowan break down her walls and set her free and accept the love he was offering her. Oh and who expected the free-spirited, kindhearted, cinnamon roll of a hockey player to be such a Dom in the bedroom? Not me! 😮💨😮💨😮💨
As always, Teddy and Samantha knocked this audio out of the park. They did a great job portraying the overly cautious, over protective helicopter mom, the CinnaDom, and the super sweet 8 year old boy who loves his mom and adores Rowan.
“I just might be in love with you, Rowan Parker.”
“Take the mights and justs out, and say it again.”
“I’m so in love with you, Rowan Parker.”
- Single mum
- Hockey player
- Forbidden/workplace: physio x patient
- Age gap (she's 8 years older)
- He falls first
- Dual POV
- Duet narration with Samantha Brentmoor and Teddy Hamilton
What I loved:
- Shay's character growth. It was wonderful to finally see her realise she'd lost herself after her husband's passing and then find herself again with the help of her friends and Rowan.
- Rowan. The dedication said, "a touch of alpha, a pinch of cinnamon, and a whole dollop of sweet," and this is the perfect description for Rowan. While I didn't quite buy how fast he fell for Shay, he was very much a caretaker and very sweet with her and her son. He understood her need for control while also helping her slowly let go in some areas.
- Two top moments: Rowan buying velcro sneakers to make Kai feel better and sending Shay a certain present 🤭.
However, this is my least fave in the series so far. It just left me wanting a little more. Specifically more interactions between Kai and Rowan, Rowan and Shay, and Rowan with the rest of the house. It didn't have the same forced proximity vibes as the other books, which I think I also missed.
Thank you to the author and Blue Nose Audio for the early audio copy!
