The plot was interesting and went places I didn’t expect, so that’s good!
Some annoying parts:
- I think this book could be condensed if Violet’s internal monologue was reduced as well as some unnecessary events were taken out. As it was the book dragged a lot.
- Violet feels guilty for EVERYTHING all the time and always feels the need to protect everyone from everything even though she’s the weakest and doesn’t know how to aim her lightning
- Speaking of that, why can’t Violet figure out how to aim her lightning?? It’s taking FOREVER
- THE END?? Like WHAT THE HECK??  Not okay. It’s so not okay that I’m not sure if I want to read the third book. Like Xaden might as well be dead if you ask me, since apparently there’s no cure. So Rebecca? Make a cure. I don’t care what the rules are, there’s a cure now.

This book didn’t disappoint. Literally starts right off where Fourth Wing ended which I love. More secrets are being revealed and relationships being tested. Just amazing and that ending! So unexpected so thrilling. I need Onyx Storm like yesterday.

I think this book just broke with the ending. I haven't felt like this for a fictional character in a long time. It is not a five star review for me because I needed more of Xaden and less about everything else.  This will be a new favorite series of books for sure. I am absolutely sure I will be rereading the first two books before the third one is out next year. But this book absolutely broke my heart and I don't know how to go back to my actual adult life.

Certain parts felt a little rushed. I really wanted better “twists”? if that’s even the right word… the reason her mom gave for forcing her to be a rider was a little flat for me, and I saw the Andarna twist(???) coming
