Wil Wheaton reading Scalzi is always, always fun.

It's an interesting premise and the first half was really enjoyable. By the second half it took an odd turn and became more serious. That doesn't mean it was bad, just not quite fitting with the tone you'd expect for a book based on an alien wanting to be a movie star.

As always Scalzi's writing is fun. The story itself is half ridiculous, half deadly serious. An alien race would be lucky to find an agent like Tom to manage their introduction.
The intro to the book will tell you that this is the first novel Scalzi wrote. Though enjoyable, it did have one problem... there's very little differentiation between the voices and attitudes of the major characters. Their back stories and characterization are great however and the similarity of dialogue is not as off-putting as it would be in a worse book.
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a comedic sci-fi romp.

I wouldn’t say this was super diverse but I would say it was really emotionally surprising and absolutely charming. Love John Scalzi.

Maybe I am just becoming a fan, or maybe Scalzi just wrote another great story. Yes it is sci-fi, but that is not really the story. Its a story about humanity. And a well done story at that.
Kudos to Wil Wheaton for another great performance.

Short Review: The official description: The space-faring Yherajk have come to Earth to meet us and to begin humanity’s first interstellar friendship. There’s just one problem: They’re hideously ugly and they smell like rotting fish. Seemed like a humous book to me, so I picked it up on a whim. It was good. Felt like a science fiction version of Christopher Buckley book (high praise in my book).
