This book took me a hot second to read- and by that I mean 21 days. Between being a busy person and this book being slow at some parts, it took me a while. I finally sat down today and finished it because I was sick and had nothing better to do.
At the beginning of the book I was very uninterested and found that it moved pretty slow; it would for sure not have gotten more than 3 stars from me, but around page 30 the pace picked up. I am very glad that the book turned out the way it did because after I started I did not have high hopes for it.
Jessica Park’s writing style threw me for a loop. When I say that, I truly have no idea how to explain it. When reading some parts all I could think was I could’ve written this in 6th grade. Then, in other parts the emotion was so raw and open I felt as if it was a New York Times best seller. At times her writing was very detached and made me bored- like when she first mentioned Stephi’s cancer coming back. It was unemotional and left me feeling like there could’ve been more. When she wrote about Stephi dying, I am not kidding when I say I bawled. I cried my eyes out for 10 minutes before reading another page. This book had me crying, laughing, and had me feel many more emotions. The emotion Park writes with in this story is very impressive at some times.
I am very impressed with how planned out all of the characters are. You really get to know all of them and personally connect yourself to the story. When reading I like to be transformed into a new world and that is what this book did for me. I was able to see what everyone was like, and I became really attached to Allison and Esben.
In conclusion, I only recommend this book if you are bored or if you’re a girl who likes a good romance and cry story. Although it was a good book for the most part, I could not give it 5 stars. I have read tons of books in my 15 years of existence and unfortunately it does not sit at the top. There were minor details throughout, but those sadly add up over time.

I suggested this book to the library a while ago because it sounded amazing, and WOW. Im speechless, I'm jittery because I have so much to say. From the beginning I was hooked in this story, the characters were amazing . Simon the loving and caring father I wished I had, Steffi the best friend anyone could ever ask for, Esben the caring, loving, and generous man that these days are only in our dreams.I connected to all of them, which almost never happens. I loved Danny and Jason his best friends and comrades. I loved Kerry, her story was represented so well. Everything together made this book and I enjoyed the ride. This book broke me and healed me together with gold. I laughed, I cried, I screamed and I smiled. So many lessons to learn from each and every character.
This book made me believe in humanity. That there are beautiful people with kind hearts , you just have to know where to look. It changed my perspective on so many things and I loved the idea of 180 seconds of eye contact. The social media challenges Esben did and a few with Allison were so fun and also changed my view on humanity and made me want to make changes. To inspire kindness and make someone's day better by a small act of kindness like Esben did.
I thought I saw true love from all the other books I've read (which is a lot) but this took the cake. It was the cherry on top. Nothing can top the love in this book because it is not just one type of love it is all. It is romance, friendship love, father-daughter love, and a love for humanity.

This book was definitely not the most enjoyable reading experience I ever had. To be completely transparent, I didn't even finish reading it.
This is another book that had an interesting premise, the idea that you can fall in love with just 180 seconds of eye contact is something that seems like blasphemy to me but I digress. But these two characters, Allison and Ebsen, actually do have this happen to them through a social experiment that Ebsen is running.
Allison isn't great with people so she avoids Ebsen, but he's kind of determined because he felt a real connection (I mean they passionately made out on stage in front of a bunch of people, a video camera, and the entirety of the internet).
One of the biggest problems I have is the fact that Allison is so damn unlikable, and you're experiencing this story through her eyes. I just could not like her no matter what. She was so unwilling to give anyone a chance (and I get that that has to do with the life she'd lived prior to meeting him, but it was still incredibly agitating that she was so damn stubborn and unwilling to give anyone a chance. Including her adoptive father, until like half way through the book).
I also have a problem with characters that appear to be infallible. And Ebsen is written to be the most perfect human who has ever walked the planet. (I know that he may only be this way because, as I mentioned before, we are experiencing this story through Allison's eyes and so she may view him as perfect. But his perfectness irks me nonetheless).
I just feel that writing a love interest who is so annoyingly perfect, and absolutely unattainable, does not make for a compelling romance. Flaws are what make people unique, I didn't see much to fall in love with in Ebsen. He felt very cookie cutter to me.
But then they kill someone off, Allison's best friend (aka the only character that was likeable in my opinion, aside from Esben's sister, and I read this book so long ago that I don't really remember the character's name. Sorry).
Her best friend, her name is Steffi (I looked it up), is a character who is in remission from cancer. I had a feeling early on that that would be used against me at a later time, and it turns out that I was absolutely right. And this is the reason I didn't finish the book. I refused to read on as she killed off the only character that was tolerable just to elicit some kind of emotion from the reader. This is the one of the few books I've read recently that I have not finished.
This book felt very predictable, and something that held a lot of potential did not live up to my expectations in any way shape or form. This is not a book that I recommend.

I apologize in advance for this craptastic review.
You know those books that you read and you enjoy but then you can't seem to remember anything about it? Yeah...
Don't get me wrong, it was a sweet book. I did enjoy the characters (5 stars for Simon! Best dad ever.) and overall I really had no problem with the book. It was a little bit of everything- emotional, funny and romantic.
In a nutshell: It wasn't like -omg I LOVED it- but it wasn't awful either. I really did enjoy it.

(Update: 8/14/18) Bumped down to three stars bc it was kind of cheesy in a way that didn’t appeal to me too much, but still a cute story!!
2/5 the only character i really enjoyed was allison’s dad
3.5 stars - cute, feel good story if you need something extra positive in your reading life!
This is worth every star I gave it. This book is definitely making my favorites list of the year, alongside Everything, Everything. My favorite books are usually ones that involve romance, not stereotypical with the new adult genre, and also make me feel and usually cry. This one hit every single one of those categories. I don't even want to give away too much. I read the synopsis, saw some reviews, and I was already sold on it. Do yourself a favor and read this book. It made me feel, it made me think, and most importantly, it made me cry. This is important because I'm notoriously not a big crier, but good books get to me sometimes. And sometimes tv shows do too... I LOVED the characters in this book. In the beginning, I thought Allison and Steffi's relationship was weird.. but as the book went on I realized why. I can't even imagine what these characters or real children go through.. At first, I expected Espen to turn out to be some jocky douche or something because that would follow the stereotype of these types of books. I'm glad he turned out to be different. I'm glad he was the guy he was. I need to start a new book asap so I don't have too bad of a book hangover. This one is definitely for the books ;)
This was way too YA/childish for me even with college students as the MC’s. I just couldn’t keep going
This was such a sweet story. She touched on a variety of subjects that the reader can relate to. I love how intense their love is.
