Ooo boy~ there was so much happening in this book! I love all the lore Professor Tam Tam shares in between chapters. But even with that insight I got a bit confused with some of the new characters (personally I got confused on the family/queens of Thyria (who outranks who?), and I thought inquisitrix’s were ranked lower than mother superior? So some dynamics also confused me there). But still SUCH A BEAUTIFUL STORY and I loved the city of Pontus so much
This series is a masterpiece. The art, the pacing, the story is just fantastic. If you haven't ever read a graphic novel, this would be the place to start.

Not as good as the last chapter, because the characters look similar it was easy for me to lose track a little in places. Still enjoyable, just meant I had to flick back a lot.
3.5 stars
I still love the artwork its just so well done. It took me awhile to get into this volume. Not sure if it was the volume's fault or the fact it had been so long since I read the second one. So much mythos for a story of this kind and sometimes a little much to be kept straight. Betrayal is rampant in this world and this volume is no exception to that. Trust noone is a good motto here.
Halfwolf arrives in the neutral city of Pontus but to be allowed to stay here she must do things for the rulers. Exploding old technology isn't usually a good thing. Was neat to see more about the Old God and I am curious about his mentioned betrayal.
Still enjoyable, I'll read the next one at some point

I'm still enjoying this series, but this felt like a step down from Vol. 2 ("The Blood"). The shielded city of Pontus is just not as fun of a setting as the pirate city of Thyria and the Isle of Bones (duh). The art is still great, the plot is still a little hard to keep track of, but I thought the sense of wonder and learning about new things subsided a bit. I did like Kippa going off on her own to help the refugee fox people; I hope that's the start of a plotline that develops her into something more than Maika's kawaii sidekick.
