I love the artwork in this series and have been a huge fan of the two previous volumes but in this one the story has become just a little too cryptic and convoluted for me. I found myself myself struggling to follow the storylines and make sense of what was going on and I flow like the dialogue is getting lost in the artwork. Reading it just feels like seriously hard work and, by the time I finished, I really feel like I had no idea what had happened in most of this volume. Invested enough to give one more volume a go but hope it makes more sense than this one.
So many dark panels and the story is just confusing at this point - who are these people again, and what about those other people? This gorgeous series disappoints in the third volume.
I think I waited too long between Vols 2 & 3. I have no idea wtf is going on.

At this point, I'm content to let the politics flow over me--I read the series too infrequently, the actors and motives are repetitive and indistinct, and I don't feel like I miss much for skimming it. I'm reading, instead, for the central dynamic and surrounding cast, which don't progress in particularly interesting ways here; jerk with a heart of gold has its charm, particularly a well-established and -justified lady jerk, but world and character give way to action in this volume. And I'm reading for the art, and that at least has yet to disappoint, and it will keep me coming back; it's ornate, lavish, and brings to life an otherwise unremarkable installation.

I don't know how to write a good review of a graphic novel, so here is some proof that Kippa is someone who has to be protected at all cost.
"The only thing worse than being lost is having no one to look for you."
"Someone has to care, Miss. Something good has to survive. It just has to. As long as there's even a little good in the world, there's a chance to make things better for everyone."

So far, I have to say, this book is my favorite I'm this series. I love where the story is going, I love the lesbian energy this whole comic emits, and I love Kippa with all my heart she is my daughter now. I really hope she doesn't meet an unfortunate fate in the future installments or I'm just gonna straight up cry.
I barely understood anything that happened, but it looked pretty
