Just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy and… I have mixed feelings. It’s undeniably moving and thought-provoking, with a haunting tone that lingers. But I found myself wishing for a bit more conflict—internal or external—to really pull me in. I can absolutely see why it resonates so deeply for others, but for me, it felt a little outside my usual wheelhouse. A powerful, quiet read

Maybe I’m just not existential enough but…I don’t get it.
I mean I’m with the mom here. In a world like that, just take yourself out before someone else does. There’s no idea given whatsoever about why they are trying to survive. What are they fighting for? What world is left? It seems like there’s not many people left. Do they think it’s going to get rebuilt?  Because it certainly doesn’t seem like that’s anywhere near what they are thinking. Where were they trying to go and what were they going to do when they go there.
challenging dark mysterious sad tense slow-paced

Not a pretty picture but this book is probably an accurate portrayal of post-apocalyptic America.
