Listened to this via audible.

I’ve always loved contemporary, and I know I always will. I enjoyed this book, the premise wasn’t really complicated—but I enjoyed how the development between the protagonists unfolded.

It was still love at first sight / encounter, but just to some extent. There were friendship and family issues involved, how trust gravely affects your relationship with other people.

Disclaimer: It's been three years since I read this, I'm sharing my notes from that time.

Critically
Plot - 3 out of 5 stars
cute, young, a little immature, cheesy, predictable, annoying, a bit silly, entertaining

Writing Style - 3.5 out of 5 stars
light, simple, dialogue style, young, quirky, fun, fast pace

Characters - 3 out of 5 stars
Gia: shallow, whiny, grows through the plot, puts in some effort, cutesy, sweet, ditsy
Hayden: sweet, immature, caring, playful, dull
The side characters were annoying, Bec was the only stand out

Emotionally
SpoilerThis book was perfect for what I wanted to read at the time.

The plot was cute. We follow Gia on the night of her prom when she gets dumped by her college boyfriend Bradley. To save face with her snobby friends, she convinces a guy waiting in the parking lot to be her fill-in boyfriend for the night. I'm sure you can all tell what happens in this story from that description and you'd be right. It's annoying how predictable the plot is but it's still incredibly entertaining. I wish this could've been more surprising, maybe taken the unexpected turn, gone in a different direction that no one would expect, but it was entertaining and generally realistic if you were ever to meet some stranger in a parking lot who decided to help you.

Gia was really freaking annoying, I'm sorry. She's petty and shallow and ditsy. She has a very superficial personality and you can tell right off the bat. She definitely grew throughout the book and got better but it wasn't enough for me to like her in the end.

Hayden was cute and sweet, but dumb. I don't know why he fell for Gia, honestly. Speaking of Gia, her friends are idiots. They are just as superficial as she is and then kind of turn their back on her when she can't uphold everything. They had a right to be upset but it was way over the top. Bec was the only character that I enjoyed. She was awesome. I wish she would've had more to do with the story, or honestly a book about her in general.

Me dueles, mujer).

This book kept me smiling the whole time and made me not care about any possible flaws. The plot was something that we see a lot in media. The “I need someone to pretend to be my date, and then fall in love” cliche. But it was still refreshing and very enjoyable to read.

I felt as if most of the problems I had with this book were some of the characters. I liked Gia, she was the typical student council president girl, who had trouble opening up to people. I thought her development was quite good and felt realistic. I loved Fill-In Bradley! He was this cute, imperfect dorky guy, who I loved more and more as the story continued, and learned more of his personality. But Gia’s friends did bother me. Not just at the end, they bothered me throughout the whole book. I can’t really explain why the bugged me, but the did for some reason. I guess i just didn’t like the way the treated Gia sometimes.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this,I read it in one sitting, and had a smile on my face while reading it. Although the ending did leave too many problems unsolved. I would suggest this book if you love cute, goofy contemporary type books.

I love a good fake-dating turns into real dating, but it is something that can go horribly wrong. Fortunately, Kasie West can write almost any type of fluffy romance.

The book was awesome and I love the two main characters and I love how they find each other and how they develop a romantic relationship. Hayden was my favorite character because he shows that a nerd can be cool. Gia's development as a character was good I liked how she found friends that showed her she doesn't have to be perfect.
