Seven Summers

I enjoyed the book and I understand the plot of what was going on. I liked that it was obvious where in her life we were and the epilogue almost had me in tears.

I think the first 90% of the book, the story gave me heart and hope, stole both, and made me fall in love. It was so realistic and I loved seeing the main character, Liv, grow in life and love throughout the first seven summers.

Unfortunately, it was also one of those books that… kinda should have ended at the end? The epilogue quickly went over literal decades and I really think it should’ve been turned into a second book and I totally would’ve read it! It kinda ruined the book for me since it was headed towards a 4.75 rating!

The writing and heartache was so good that I’ll definitely be reading more by Paige Toon in the future.

Really really enjoyed this one.. read in one day, just couldn’t put it down. Obsessed with the beachy scene, the seamless transitions between time periods, and just the two types of love you tend to find in life as we mature.
Tom, the man the FMC meets in her adulthood, sweeps her off her feet but dies of a heart disease early on in his life. Her summer fling for the past 7 years, who never felt he could settle down in UK but instead wanted to follow his dreams ends up being a safe haven for her again, though she swore him off at one point. They have 3 kids and get married.

I was more invested in the relationship with Tom than with Finn, so the first half or so of the book was kinda slow and I was just waiting for the 'this summer' crumbs (I'm not sure why I liked Tom so much better, but possibly because I knew from the start that there was heartbreak involved and I just never let myself like him as much for that). But having read the whole thing now, I understand why so much attention was given to Finn, both because it was important to the setup and because, well, you know.
