This is the first Paige Toon book l've read and I really enjoyed it. This book has heartache, trauma, love and second chance romance. I understand why some readers say to get tissues ready but it wasn't needed in my case. It does take alot for me to cry over a fiction book. Overall, a very good read.

A summer to fall in love, six more to try to get it right.

Liv and Finn are two 22 year olds having come back home for the summer, Liv coming from a year of sculpture seminar in Florence, Finn from LA where he moved in with his dad after his mom died in high school. They spend the summer together, even though they know they’re on a crash course to heartbreak when Finn has to leave.

A traumatic event ties them even more together, breaking both of their hearts when their time has to come to an end. But they both promise that when Finn comes home each summer, they’ll spend time together if they’re both still single. And that works… until it doesn’t.

I don’t know what Paige Toon puts in these books to make me SO emotional. I am so disappointed in myself that I didn’t read this one sooner. She just writes her stories and love so beautifully, even when tragic events and emotions are involved. And boy the way I crieddddddd.

If you’re looking for an upbeat romcom type summer read, this one isn’t that, but if you’re looking for a summer romance that will make you connect to the characters and feel something, you should absolutely pick this one up.

At this point, Paige Toon is one of my “immediate buy” authors. I’ll read whatever she writes.

Thank you to Penguin Group, Putnam for the copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a 4 star book until the epilogue. What the actual h*ll was that?

I really liked this summer romance story. Liv meets Finn right after she graduates from art school. She is a sculptor and is ready to go out into the world. Finn is the lead singer of a band and he is only here in the Cornish coast because he is visiting his grandparents. He grew up here but left after his mother committed suicide. He grew up in America. Finn and Liv get together and then livs parents are killed in a car crash. She stays in her family ho.e because her brother who has downs lives nearby. The story jumps summer to summer. After 6 summers she and Finn get together every summer as long as they are both single but both know they can't have a real relationship. Liv.rents out her parents upstairs and Tom rents it. He is recently divorced search and rescue pilot. He is on a break from work and Liv and him hit it off. You find out in a flashback that Finn confronted Liv last summer that she just didn't want to move to be with him and now he is dating a famous singer. He is now a famous songwriter. Liv still works at the local bar and in the winter she sculpts. She and Tom fall in love and he tells her that he might have a heart condition that killed his grandfather and has incapacitated his father. then Finn comes back for a friends wedding and asks her to be with him. She says she loves tom. Tom and her get married. Tom finds out he does have a heart condition and he helps her but the local bar. They go through 3 rounds of IVF that fail. And then Tom dies. Finn has also fallen out with his significant other and they decide to get together. They have 3 kids and live in America. I love the twists on the traditional romance. I just wish that 90% of the novel hadn't been about her choosing to and then rushed chapters about everything else.
