Enjoyable book. It was fun that Ben had a more active role in preventing the disaster and proving himself as a good agent. I thought Erica's character was a little watered down.

I read this aloud with one of my kids and it was enjoyable. Some of the language/word choice was crazy hard- which I struggled with as a lot of 9+ read this on their own. Overall though engaging and fun

Oi. Cheap jokes, recycled plot, and not nearly enough Erica. It was a good run but I recommend stopping before you get to Spy School #9.

Fun(ny) fact(s): Shoutout to Gibbs for genuinely trying to educate kids about climate change in his book and also in his epilogue/author's note.

Favorite quote/image: "You're going to do so many great things...I know a lot of fathers think their daughters are going to change the world, but I know you're going to. You're already done it. Several times..." (Ch. 24)

Honorable mention: "Just because I am a criminal doesn't mean I can't care about the environment...I have never hurt anyone–and I give back to the community. I also farm sustainably; I don't use any pesticides on my crops, and I water with drip irrigation. You know who the real criminals are? The gas and coal companies. They're destroying this planet. And yet, they get government subsidies for their businesses, while I'm branded a villian." (Ch. 11)

Why: Our old friends Murray, Joshua, and Dane are back (as well as Jessica!) with another iteration of a crazy plan that would enact global chaos if they actually succeeded. El Diablo is a hilarious, turtle-loving, eco-conscious (minor) criminal and a true scene stealer that redeems this book, and the commentary on the truth vs. reality of cruise ship advertisements brings another needed dose of humor to make this quite a respectable book in the series.
