A nice lighthearted story, although it did take me a while to get into it. I came for the disability representation (POTS) and stayed for he loveable characters. Ending felt a bit rushed and not as satisfying as I’d hoped.

Highly recommend this book! A thrilling novel about a fencer with a chronic illness in 1700s France, who risks everything to find out what happened to her father. Features LGBTQ+ characters, strong female friendships, and an excellent plot twist at the end!

I loved this so much! My concentration isn't great right now, but I'm excited about giving it a second listen and saying more.

DID NOT FINISH: 25%

this was just very very mid? the writing was choppy and could've been edited better, I didn't care about any of the characters, and everything felt very predictable? it wasn't anything groundbreaking or exceptionally unique, and I feel like it's another case of a book banking so hard on being "good representation" that it sacrifices some quality? like in the book, tania talks a lot about how people only see her as sick, but the book also kind of does exactly that? all we really know about her by the hundredth page is that she has pots and wants to be a musketeer and that is not enough for me

i was just really bored?? i was doing a buddy read with my partner and they read ahead a few chapters and said it was still boring— there’s not really anything new or interesting going on here aside from the mc having pots and (saying this as a crip) disability rep alone doesn’t make a book good or engaging imo
