I liked this one, which is more than I can say about the first book. I don’t think the writing style is that great, but the story held up and I really liked the characters and the way they were used (except for Annalise who is just annoying lol). Introduction of Nesbitt and Van as meaningful side characters and actually seeing more of Marcus was a good choice. And Gabriel. I love him a lot. I love his yearning, and the tension between him and Nathan. I actually ship them in like an earnest, am I a 14 year old girl on tumblr still way (I guess I always will be). Gabriel hands down best thing about this series. Blorbo energy if you will.

Ugh, terrible; actual snoozefest and trash. I won't be picking up the third and final book when it's out, that's for sure.

Second read: 2023: it is amazing to read the books younger Meyra liked and older Meyra is like wtf is this book? Still, I respect my younger self.

The first 2/3 of Half Wild was ehhhh but the last third was AMAZING.

I love Nathan, the constantly-angry protagonist. And Gabriel, although he deserves more. I have no love lost for the extremely flat character of Annalise (I naturally dislike characters who have no clear motive or distinctive personality, but that is rarely their fault and more the fault of being underdeveloped.) Thankfully, the last bit of the book at least gave her something to do. Even if I'm not happy about it. To be completely honest, Annalise is the entire reason that I knocked a star off this book.

I'll conclude this by saying that you can tell Sally Green is a fairly new writer, but she's definitely improved with this second book. The world she has created is exciting and filled with (mostly) unique and impressive characters.
