This novel is previewed as a contemporary romance, but I must admit, it is very low on the romance side of things. At least in comparison to others I’ve read. Sparks fly, but they were desperate sparks. How does the main character still have a lingering crush on someone from 15+ years ago? A person they didn’t even date in high school, to boot… I felt like this book almost tied everything up too quickly and too nicely, and it was most definitely predictable. I will say, I enjoyed the aspect of women in STEM, and the challenges faced by women in tech, specifically.

Okay, so I ended up reading this as a good time passer as I was doing work for the house and I wasn't really sure what I was getting into. I ended up enjoying it quite a bit although I didn't love all aspects of the story, it was pretty fun for the most part and I really liked the overall message and some of the ways things were handled.

I wanted to like it, but I just could not connect with the writing style. It felt so forced and trite that it kept taking me out of the story. It was an interesting story idea to show a woman trying to make it in the venture capital world, but the execution just didn’t land for me.
