Black Widow at her best, with wit and the stone-cold killing skills I love her for. The dialogue and plot are top-notch, and the art is gorgeous, with some really creative panel use. An antidote to the boobs-and-butt cheesecake comics Natasha sometimes has to suffer through.

I read this based off of the word of YouTuber FictionalDarling, who said it was so good it ruined all other comics for her. But I gotta say, as someone who has read Shakespeare, this is the most confusing book I have ever read. Can someone please explain the plot to me? Seems like it’s just juxtaposing a bunch of different jobs she’s had with no order or meaning.

Getting my hands on this volume was worth the wait! I don't usually read Marvel comics but I had to make an exception for 1) Phil Noto's art and 2) the nuanced story behind the woman known as Black Widow. Based on both Marvel films and other comics, we are acquainted with the fact that she was trained to be an assassin since her childhood, but I appreciated letting the readers see her really grappling with her past and deciding to face it rather than burying it.

I may be biased because I absolutely love Phil Noto's art to begin with but I just adore the way he portrays Natasha in this series. It feels so very real in a lot of ways - it's practical, it's eye catching, and it gets the point across without some of the, shall we say, unnecessary, scenes that so many other illustrators like to put in. I could probably write an entire essay on why exactly it is so good, but I'm digressing a little bit.
I think the storyline here also does Natasha justice because she is allowed to show her vulnerability and hurt, and why her current circumstances are prolonging that. She is allowed to need people. I know some people think that detracts from her badassery but I love the interwoven "badass" scenes with the scenes that show how much she is still hurting. I don't think that showing that loneliness takes away from her espionage and fighting skills at all - I really think it makes it that much more poignant when you show how she continues to push on despite all that anguish sitting under the surface.
Looking forward to seeing where the rest of this series goes.

Really enjoyed this run, honestly Nat taking jobs to kill only those who deserve it and to use the payments to help families of those she wronged in the past is *chefs kiss*
I love her character and integrity so much, you can see her desire to do better, to be better, even when it hurts her in the process.
Also loved the addition of Liho!! (Movie Nat deserved her own Liho but thats besides the point) And I also loved that we got to see her and Maria working together as friends plus the little Clint shot too!

This collection is perfect for fans of Captain America 2: Winter Soldier. Noto's work reminds me of Jock's work on the Losers. Good stuff.

This is my first real dip into a Black Widow story, and it was a blast! The unique art style and action in the quick stories made this a quick read, but the dialogue was wonderfully composed and added to Natasha Romanoff's complicated character. These stories moved very quickly so it's hard to pick a favourite one, but this is a must have for all fans of the Black Widow!
