This was so perfect and inspiring and magical! Thank you Mrs. Obama for sharing your story and letting us see the intimate details of your life before, during, and after your run as First Lady.

This book was amazing. Really made you look and see why she left such a great impact as a First Lady

Loved it. Listened to it as an audiobook from her own voice mostly. So amazing and such an inspiring woman!

This book is full of emotion, reading through the life of someone I admire was an inspiring thing.

Often times we go through situations in life, or experience certain emotions and can not find the words to express how we feel. Michelle Obama found a way to put these feelings into words in such a beautiful way.

Upon loosing her friend she wrote
" I'd see all these people looking happy in their cars, walking the sidewalk in their summer clothes, sitting idly in cafes, and working at their desks, all of them oblivious to what happened to Suzanne-"

When we experience loss it is difficult to understand how the world can just keep on moving, the thought that the rest of the world is "oblivious" to your loss was something that struck me.

When reading this book I found myself overwhelmed. I had a such a strong feeling of happiness as I read her story. I don't often get teary or sentimental when reading. I can name only a handful of books that brought tears to my eyes, and this book is one of them.

It's really hard to explain this book, although Michelle Obama experienced loss and sadness, the parts of this book that made me emotional where more often than not when she spoke about happy times. The steadfastness and loving pride of her father, the stubborn love of her aunt, or the humble adoration for her children.

It is an inspiring read, although I can not find the proper words to describe this book, I cannot recommend it enough.

I don't think this book will ever be 'over' for me because I can see myself revisiting paragraphs and chapters and moments years later when life feels worthless. I did not read this book in order because if I did, I would have lost interest. Memoirs are not my thing. They just don't work for me, so I read this book in bits and pieces, moving around from one chapter to another, reading whatever caught my attention.

"Now I think it’s one of the most useless questions an adult can ask a child—What do you want to be when you grow up? As if growing up is finite. As if at some point you become something and that’s the end." - Michelle Obama.

📖Michelle Obama's memoir - 'Becoming' was an instant bestseller. And honestly, I am not surprised. Michelle Obama has been a source of motivation for millions of people, especially women all around the world. Her speeches and her engagement with an audience has always been something to look forward to, her conversations, engaging and inspiring.
.
✨'Becoming' is about all those moments that made Michelle Obama the person she is today. A wife, a mother, a sister and the former first lady. The book takes us through moments of grief, self-doubt, accomplishments criticism, love. Her life has been all of this and more. And here, through this book, the message I get is loud and clear - be strong, be yourself. Its okay to be vulnerable. The world will try to drag you down (firstly lady or not), but if you believe in something, hang on to that.
.
✨The book had its dramatic moments and comic relief, certain grim realities in the life of a black woman trying to find a place in the world, the struggles of being engaged and later married to an ambitious man and the perils of raising children under the intense gaze of the world.
.
A book I would absolutely recommend. Beautiful, profound and inspiring.

Like a mentor in a book! Her story as a mom, as a wife, as a career woman, as a leader, as someone who cares, gives you much to think about and feel encouraged as you persevere in writing the next chapter in your own story and that of our community and world.

i miss you guys
