Interesting and informative but I felt much like an abled person who crashed a disabled party. A little awkward, a little confused—lots of questions that I’m not sure are appropriate. My discomfort though is exactly the point. Abled people have been allowed ignorance of disabled peoples’ lives because it doesn’t come up in their everyday lives. This anthology states quite clearly that it is time for that to change.

I’d seen many friends say this was a must read and I truly agree! This anthology has such a diverse range of voices and helped me rethink opinions that I held in the past.
I also felt that overall, most of the essays were very easy to understand and follow (something I struggle with often in nonfiction)

it feels weird rating this because it real people's stories about real important topics but for me it was a bit hard to get through. I wish there were more funny or light reads. An anthology gives little incentive to keep going. And though many were very powerful and thought provoking not many were very humanizing and just this is a story but also yeah I am disabled. Some talked about disabled joy but not many really showed it.
