I really enjoyed this book. I liked the first one a little bit more but this is also a really strong story. I loved all the characters and the murder mystery. I found myself audibly laughing a few times at the banter. It was overall a fun read. I think it left off for another book so I’m excited to see what comes out in this world next. I would definitely recommend this to other readers.

It was so cute and romantic. I enjoyed how they fell in love. And the thread was just hilarious. Who knew a thread would be comic relief? It was a murder on the river with ghosts, gods, and creatures in a very light-hearted and witty way. I really liked the plot line and the character development as well as the strong supporting characters. It was very well done.

I wish I liked this book more because I loved the first one so much! I did think I was going to enjoy the book based on the premise of the story, but it ended up falling flat for me.

Just like with The God and the Gumiho, this romance moved too quickly for me. I get that there’s a red thread of fate and so they already knew they were soulmates, but it just didn’t feel natural for me. I also hated that the author made
Kisa a virgin with a “teach me” moment.

The writing was really cringey at times and felt like I was reading a YA novel instead of an adult book. The pacing of the book also felt off - too slow at points and too rushed at others. The murder mystery seemed fun but I ultimately didn’t like the way it was done.

I would continue to recommend the first book in the series, but perhaps not The God and the Gwisin.

Thank you Del Rey and Netgalley for the ARC!

OOOH I am so happy to be back in this world. Kim did a great job introducing the new character of Kisa, including parts we love of Hani while also acknowledging she isn't the same person. I love the new love story that played out, the way side characters got to develop more, and the fact we got to learn more about the world and how it works. I feel like Kim is writing towards something, and I am so excited for this story to continue to play out.

If you like K-Dramas, you really should pick this one up.
