I enjoyed this sequel. Seokga got more character development and you really felt for him as the "Lonely God". The author did a good job building up his hope in finding the reincarnated Hani, only to find Kisa who is totally different from her. The disappointment is palpable, but then they get to slow burn build their own romance that is very different from him and Hani. Beautiful in its own way. The murder mystery was great and I did predict who the murderer was, but was surprised at how they did it. Pacing was similar to the first book. Baby Hwanin was a cute little reprieve. The emotion and thought sharing down the bond was hilarious, and you really felt the mortifying feelings of them both.

What a fun sequel! In Gumiho we saw Seogka’s icy exterior slowly be chipped away by Hani’s relentlessness. This time around he is melted by Kisa’s warm and sweetness. Seogka starts the book ready to be in love again after looking for Hani’s reincarnation for 33 years. When he meets her she’s so unlike Hani that he isn’t sure how he feels. He feels tied and compelled towards her but she is so obliviously empty towards him that he is hurt. I think one of the big factors that drew Seogka to Hani in the first place was that she liked him, even as cantankerous and ungenerous as he is. Probably because she was mean and self serving as well. But Kisa is the opposite. She had to see the good in Seogka before she could find his less than admirable qualities cute.
I liked that neither Seogka nor Kisa try to be anything than what they are and still fall in love.
On top of the delicious love story, the is the main plot which is a “murder” mystery/who done it. I was able to guess the culprit much easier this time than last. But IDNGAF. Seogka’s longing was exquisite. The banter was too notch. The cast of characters loveable and funny. The book ends in a satisfactory way if this is the last book, but another book could be added easily enough as well. All the stars.

⛔ SPOLIERS AHEAD ⛔
I really wanted to love this book but I think I knew all along that it would never be as good as the first, especially since The God and the Gumiho ends in such a way that it could really just be a standalone. I understand what the author was trying to do with the reincarnation but honestly, when someone who is reincarnated is NOT the previous person at all and will never be, no memories of their former life, no similar traits to who they were, are they even reincarnated?? Because I just felt like this was a completely different fmc and that was so weird. The plot could have been better too but I did enjoy it for the most part. I think that had this been a book on its own, with new characters, I would have loved it alot more than what I did. Still, I love Kim's writing through both books so much.
