This was one of the scariest books I've ever read. and I'm certainly not easily frightened.

The book was so good that I read it extremely slowly, taking breaks and never wanting the book to end.

i really enjoy the premise of this book and thought it was well executed. it is a slow burn, which almost took me out of the story at first, but once things ramped up it was wild. there was imagery in here that i will be obsessed with for a while. sadly, there was some dialogue that really made me cringe, and the epilogue did the thing where it explained the whole premise, which..............god, please don't do that. there were also some interpersonal relationship stuff between characters that seemed forced/slapped in and not fleshed out, and............idk. just falls flat at times.

(semi-spoiler)

the "horror" in this tale is addiction, and i think it does a good job of painting that in a light that is as harrowing as it is hopeful.

Ghosts, drugs, and toxic relationships- these are a few of my favourite things! On paper I should have loved this.

But uh yikes, this book is really bad.  It just kept getting more stupid and cringey.

Boooooring. Just didn’t jive with the story, the characters, the plot.
