I appreciate the different voices everyone used but how pissed everyone got at cal was ridiculous

Putting the over used "chosen one" trope aside, this book was incredible just like its prequel.
Finian continued to be lighthearted and amazing.
Tyler and Zila both really grew on me.
And Scarlett was seriously a rock star.
The new character, Saedii, was also incredible. I do love a kick-ass female villain!
I really loved getting to meet the Eshvaren, and I also appreciated the existential discourse they provoked.

The last 25% of this book was INTENSE, full of action and plot twists and leaving SO MANY cliffhangers. I have a theory of time travel and I NEED the 3rd book ASAP!

Also, major kudos to a SMART AF, Black, Queer character who can somehow manage to pilot ships on top of being science-y, tech-y, and medical-y

4 stars. The characters were well-explored, and built up in believable ways from the first book. The plot was tight and the action was exciting. The prose was good, except when it went full-YA mode with awkward colloquialisms and phrases. There was no real ending, though – there was a massive cliffhanger.

So freaking good!! But that cliffhanger has me!! I need the next book in the trilogy and I need it now! I might almost like this series better than the Illuminae Series by the same authors - but I'm not sure yet. They are both REALLY good! Aurora Burning follows the same squad fresh off the loss of their pilot in book one, Aurora Rising. They now know who the enemy is and that they are the only ones who can stop them and in the process save the galaxy. Not at all a daunting prospect for these young adults. Funny, inventive, and so unique - readers can't help but to fall in love with this quirky cast of oddballs. I won't give more of a summary than that - if you haven't read the first book in the series - DO NOT read this one. Now give me the third book already!
