And I am not feeling nothing.

3.25/5 stars.

I’m having a difficult time keeping up with all the POVs. I do like having an inside look at each character but the problem is I started liking certain perspectives more than others and would find myself spacing out on the perspectives I didn’t like.

I’m so glad Zila finally got some attention in this book. She ended up being a really interesting character and probably one of my favorites.

On the other hand, I used to like Kal and Auri a lot but after reading several chapters of their romance I honestly don’t like them much anymore. I just didn’t like how they portrayed Auri as the most powerful character but she passes out every time she uses her powers and then has a little mushy romance scene with Kal. I found myself getting annoyed every time one of their chapters came up.

The biggest issue I had was with the writing. I typically like a relaxed and humorous style with these books but in particular, this book’s humor felt so forced. There were comedy bits that carried on way too long like for instance Tyler getting kicked in the balls. When it was first talked about, it was funny, but it just kept going and going and going until the end of the book to the point where it wasn’t funny anymore. The same goes for the curse words that Auri uses. They didn’t feel that creative and we’re just weird. I’d rather her use an f bomb than holy cake again.

4.5*

Unlike the first book, the characters are not the strongest part in this one. I still love them, in this book especially Zila and Tyler, and their friendship is still very much wholesome, but certain events in the second half of the book left me feeling a bit disappointed (those certain events seemed both unnecessary and unrealistic), and I think that that is the main reason why I found [b:Aurora Rising|30075662|Aurora Rising (The Aurora Cycle, #1)|Amie Kaufman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1560056657l/30075662._SY75_.jpg|50493990] better.

The plot, however, was so thrilling, there were so many mysteries in the first half, and so many plot twists towards the end. I definitely didn't see them coming, either. The villains
Spoiler(both the GIA and Caersan towards the end)
are creepy but really cool, which is honestly exactly what I want from a villain. And the cliffhanger?? I'm dying for the next book.

The worldbuilding is great, just as good as in the first one, and the new worlds and aliens we get to know are fascinating to read about. And the spaceships! I don't know why I love spaceships so much, but every time one is being described I'm just drooling. Can I have a sci-fi spaceship too, please?

SpoilerAlso, my two favorite review notes for this is "luke I am your father" and, several lines further down, "luke I am apparently also your mother." As I said, did not see those plot twists coming.

I'd say I'm sensing a bit of middle book syndrome, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a very good book, and I can't wait for the third one!

A malincuore non do 5 ⭐ piene perché mi è piaciuto TUTTO tranne Kal.

I want to like it more than I do. The cover intrigued me a lot with the vibrant colors and stunning cover art, the format is equally as intriguing. Sadly I still don't enjoy the content of the book. Wasn't bad but didn't live up to my expectations either

What a cliffhanger?!!
adventurous emotional tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

A lot better than the first book in my opinion. A lot more character backstory as well as development. A lot more shit going down. Still called the plot twist from a mile away, though.

To be honest, the stunning cover is one of my main reasons for reading this series. Space elves. I repeat, SPACE ELVES. This book was just as good as the first one in the series and I’m eagerly awaiting the final book.
