Such a sinister and dark plot with a protagonist with questionable intentions. A great cat-and-mouse chase with L and Light where you're constantly on edge with who is closer to finding the other. And Ryuk is surprising funny and charming in his own way. A solid start to the series!

How could this possibly be any less than 5 stars? It’s tense, and so cognitively satisfying. I love how well thought out the characters and their motivations are. Ryuk is so funny, and the competition between L and Light really plays on the balance between good and evil, right and wrong. What’s not to love?
