Even though I had watched the anime before picking up the manga, I enjoyed it so much in one sitting! The plot was so gripping and mind-blowing and the art was absolutely gorgeous (black & white fits the story SO well). More than just a super smart story, Deathnote tangles issues of morality, justice and vigilantism through a plot that makes your heart beat faster!

Okay, I read this based on a friend's recommendation, and I was extremely surprised by how much I loved this first volume. I feel ashamed for saying this, but I never thought that I'd be one to be a fan of manga. I kind of thought that I will only ever read actual novels or graphic novels like Bloom. Now, I'm looking forward to immersing myself in the wonderfully creative world of manga. I feel like the character development in Death Note is really interesting, and of course, the actual art is amazing. I've never read a right-to-left book, or any manga or anime before, so I'm happy that this book has entered my life and it will have a special place in my heart as my first manga. I definitely suggest this book to anyone who wants to get into manga or someone looking for a suspenseful book that will be impossible to put down.
