I picked this up by chance, and it was amazing, I read it so fast as I couldn’t put it down. Even in the beginning where I had no idea what was going on, it was not confusing or boring but instead intriguing and fantastical. The world building is so original and beautiful, I felt as though I was in The House, lost with the protagonist, and having his revelations with him. I recommended this book to anyone into fantasy or mystery genres. Even after reading and researching the inspirations behind ‘Piranesi’, I am still thinking about and wondering about this story, wanting more.

Read this as my first book of 2022 and was really surprised. Its a story about a House that is Alive and Haunted(by the same thing that make it Alive). It is doing things with motives so far away from our own perception of things, that its a character in its own right.
This book is written Very well and the way it unweaves the mystery is expertly done revealing things to both the reader and our Protagonist at different times which got be really excited and at the edge of my seat to read more.
Its a short read, and after it establishes itself in the first/part of the second part, it goes for the races. I paced myself through this book through the past week, and that felt like a good course of action. The ending of each part kinda felt like the ending on a tv show.
This kinda got away from me, but if you want to read a story thought a limited first person view about A Place that is Alive, people trying to interact with that place in so many different ways, that ends up with a very interesting view of how identity exists and is formed, I Definitely recommend this book. Glad I started the new year with it :^)

This was very good and confusing and kept me up much too long. Thanks to Raincoast Books for an ARC!

I knew very little going into this one besides it was maybe based on Greek mythology? But it’s one that relies on mystery so it’s good to know nothing. Which, of course, makes reviewing it very difficult but I won’t give any part of the story away here (but feel free to skip ahead if you don’t want any influence when you read it).

Suffice to say, I loved it. It’s incredibly confusing from the first page but you quickly get sucked into the story, trying to figure out what’s happening while getting progressively more confused.

This one had big The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis vibes for me and while I would’ve enjoyed more incorporation of Greek mythology as the cover seemed to promise, it was a very fun read that I’m looking forward to revisiting.
