What a compelling story. Normally, I dislike novels that don't have a solid ending, relying on the next novel in the series to tie up loose ends; however, this felt so much like the end of one story and the beginning of the next that I didn't mind as much.

The dislikable lead character was very appealing to me. There aren't any read alikes in my repertoire.

What do you do when the world thinks your dead? Whatever you want. It's a story about why a man walked away from a successful career and fortune. On the inside it's much more. It's a story about one man's search for redemption and what he might do if given the chance to live his life again. Great start to what I'm looking forward to as an incredible series by RPE

Richard Paul Evans is one of my favorite authors. His stories are so captivating and fast to read. Can't wait to read the next 2 books in this trilogy.

Can't say I enjoyed this one as much as previous books. From the very beginning, the protagonist comes across as an unlikeable character, and I find myself questioning whether someone with those personality and character attributes would be likely to change in the way Evans seems to suggest he will. Evans' books often seem to follow a pattern of apparent success, followed by trial and tribulation, and finally coming to a realization of what true success is and a happy ending. As a results, I sometimes find myself sympathizing with the characters, even sorrowing with them, but I felt none of that with this character, only dislike and distaste. I'll probably read the remaining books in the trilogy just to see how Evans pulls it off, but I'm a bit disappointed.

I am not convinced this is a three star book but man did i get sucked into it. much like being at a Charles James seminar. way, way too much dialogue though.

I'm a big fan of Richard Paul Evans so it was no surprise that I liked this book. This is Book 1 in a 3 book series and the other 2 aren't out yet so I was disappointed when I got to the end just because I want to know what happens. This is the story of Charles James who is a rich, successful speaker. He's sells packages to teach others how to be successful. But is he happy? Several things happen that make him question the path that he is on in his life. He is given a chance to change things. At the end of the first book, the question is will he take that chance?

I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next one in the series! At first I was a little disappointed in RPE because it's another book about a man who walks, but this was completely different and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quick read that pulls at your heart strings.
