OMG! I freaking LOVED this book! I wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to read this so I didn't go in with any expectations, but holy cow this book  went above and beyond any expectations I could have had. Honestly, I love vampires and vampire lore but I haven't had a lot of luck finding vampire books that I really enjoy. Our FMC, Medra, is a bad ass and not just in the sense of being able to fight. She was fae royalty in her realm and was thrust into a realm run by vampires where her fae abilities are no more. Still, she doesn't bend or break. She's stubborn, strong willed and defiant until the end! Blake - hmmm what can we say about Blake?! You definitely go back and forth with feelings about him. At the beginning I kinda felt like the hate banter was too forced, but as I got farther into the book the banter was *chefs kiss*. The slow burn and tension build up is absolute perfection. I'm not even gonna lie, there for a minute I was kinda feeling Medra and Kage..... that was is a silver tongue I tell you smooth as ice. Ahh I'm so excited to start the next book though my heart DROPPED when I saw that book 3 doesn't come out until 2026? Literal heart break. Seriously PICK THIS UP! Fantasy acadamia, badass FMC, morally grey MMC, survival games, dragons. You literally can't get any better.

Woooof. This book felt so juvenile that I had to look up if it was considered a YA novel. Thankfully it isn’t cause alongside the jumbled story line and poorly written dialogue, there’s just random raunchy scenes that do little for the plot. I ended the book how I started it, very confused on wtf was happening lol.

Read this as part of a book club and have been seeing all over TikTok. A lottttt going on/perhaps too many elements, but still relatively enjoyable and fast paced read.

I was kind of disappointed by this, I expected a lot more from it based on the hype that it’s getting on booktok.
It was slow and a bit confusing to get into.
Blake was so unlikeable to the point that I just didn’t find it believable that Medra liked him. I was cringing at the end

I went into this book with very high expectations, and was let down by basically everything. I did not really connect with the characters at all. The plot didn’t really interest me. I found that it was a lot of world dumping, I don’t know if I just have a bad attention span, but I was bored out my mind. I ended up skimming the last 40 percent of the book. I did love the tension, but I just wish there was more of it. Overall 3 stars

In theory, I should have enjoyed it. I picked it up because I saw so many positive reviews, and all the tropes were right up my alley, but unfortunately, it underdelivered. I didn’t like the writing, it felt too simple and disjointed. The story and the characters felt very juvenile, and I found myself rolling my eyes one too many times. Also, while the world seemed interesting, and it started off alright, it got very boring somewhere in the middle - I could not tell you one thing that happened. And I will say, while I understand setting the scene and building up the tension… where are the dragons? I feel like I was promised dragons.

3,75! Mix between Harry Potter, fourth wing and twilight with the FMC from disneys brave. In a good way! Quick, easy read with a plot that makes you want to pick up the next book directly!
