This was a pleasant surprise.  I wanted to read this one based on reviews I'd seen and was not disappointed. The characters were well done and the storyline was unique.  I found the world building was just the right amount.  (not overdone and not too little)  I found the writing style easy and fast paced with no lulls in the pacing. 
The only thing I am disappointed over is that I picked this up as an indie paperback and not I cannot get the rest of the series in the same format.  
I am starting the second book on KU now before it is removed!

The multi-species and dual perspectives was fun. Such a slow start but it did end okay. Maybe it was a bit too slow but some parts seemed lacking, just not sure what. Overall fun, let the journey continue!
