Yeah, no. I was interested in this book because of a blurb I saw. After getting into the book, I tried so hard to finish it but it was abusive. The characters tell each other how much they hate each other. There is no real character development because suddenly Parker becomes the good guy because he saves Willow from being a damsel in distress. It is unclear exactly what went on between Ashton, Nate, and Brett until the very end when everything reaches a boiling point. I did not care for any of the characters. The females were extremely weak and helpless. Willow's so-called friend Alice was horrible because she didn't stand up to Willow. But, you know, why would she? Willow and Alice hardly know each other and yet I am to believe that they have an amazing bond. I am disappointed by the abusive nature that is tolerated throughout this book.

An interesting layered story. The characters are fun to get to know. Their chemistry is pure fire. The dominance he craves just spurs her on even more and I loved every second. They push each other in the most beautiful and brutal ways.

Loved every minute I spent reading this book.
It was so good!
It’s filled with drama, suspense, intrigue and of course bad boys
I thought Willow was a strong brave young lady.
She’s put in a position in which she has no control over.
Her love for her sister has her enduring whatever is thrown at her.
From those around her.
Parker is the alpha possessive guy that wants to turn Willow’s world upside down and inside out.
He’s always felt a pull towards her.
And the pull has gotten more intense.
The tension between them is electrifying.
And their together chemistry is hot.
Holy Batman the twists and turns this book takes is phenomenal!
This is no ordinary bully story.
It had me on the edge of my seat while I was reading.
Not only because of how sizzling hot it was.
But also because of all the suspense going on.
This is a must read for all those who love bully romances.
You will absolutely get that along with so much more!

Eh this is fine? Nothing groundbreaking and these feel more like super short novellas than a couples full story.
I’ve been reading a lot of dark romance this year and I’ve loved most of it but I cannot seem to get into this specific kind. The kind I’m talking about is “you did my family/friend/someone else wrong and I’m going to make you pay for it”. They all seem to read the same with the hero (I use that term loosely) bullying the heroine but finds out near the end they aren’t really to blame and the groveling starts. This book was no different and even though there was a slight twist in the story, it was still the same story. I used to think I hated these types of books because of the dub/non-con but I’ve read other dark books where that hasn’t bothered me.
Both main characters annoyed me, there was too much going on for such a short book and I started skimming it just to get through it. Two stars for the fact I actually finished it and for the work the author’s put into writing it. This one was NOT for me.

Damnnnn this book was on fire!!!! Parker was so dark and Willow was fierce in her own way. He started out by seeking revenge but it was a mixture of lust. These two were HOT!!!! The tension wrapped with hatred was so intense that it was sizzling. Willow was afraid of Parker but never showed him fear which made his feelings for her even stronger. Little by little you didn’t know anymore where Parker feelings actually were. Willow tried not to feel for him but was unsuccessful. Then secrets were revealed and when you thought that was enough another secret came out that will have you gasping. Great beginning to a series and great ending for these two that went thru so much heartache but finally ended up together and having each other’s back. I think there’s more to these two.
What a serious roller coaster ride! I enjoyed this story from beginning to end. I loved the secrets and drama and the twists and turns that I did not see coming. This story was captivating and I am definitely looking forward to reading more from these authors.
The premise of this book grabbed me from the start. I love this type of bully book, it was right up my alley. Willow was stronger than Parker thought she would be and I LOVE when a heroine is underestimated. Parker was fighting his feelings for Willow through the whole book. This is a girl he has loved since he was young. He was so angry at her for her actions, but that love couldn't be tamped down. I am so happy that we got both POV's for this story. I love a hero that is at war with himself but also is fiercely protective of the heroine. They both come from some seriously messed up families that have toyed with their brains and how they should be feeling and acting. I would like to say that I suspected the twist, but I didn't fully realize it would play out that way. I really liked that aspect, that it was a surprise for me. There were a few issues I had and a few typos, but nothing major. I really liked this book.

A Blackthorn Elite Novel, Book 1
By: J.L. Beck, Cassandra Hallman
Narrated by: Blake Richard, Olivia Amayo
I love dark romances, and this definitely fit the bill. My first listen by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman, I enjoyed an unpredictable, fantastic story. Willow is a pawn for her father. After losing business associates, he is using Willow to get back in the good graces of the community by using the Parker, the son of his adversary. Now attending Blackthorn Elite, she is thrown into social suicide with Parker leading the way. These two are like water and oil. Parker is determined to seek revenge on Willow's family and will do anything he can to achieve it. Willow is determined not to be broken. But there is a fine line between love and hate. This story has such realism in it, at times it's scary. Beck and Hallman integrate greed, reputation, bullying, mental illness and so much more into this story, it's impossible not to get sucked in. There were times I wanted to hate Parker, but ultimately, it was hard not to understand and sympathize with his situation as much as Willow's. This is an incredible listen and I can't wait to hear book 2!
The narration team of Blake Richard and Olivia Amayo is the perfect casting for this story. They both fit the characters and did justice for the story. Richard portrays Parker with a dark and devious stature, and can turn it in an instant so you feel his turmoil. Amayo adds so much to Willow, with the listener feeling compassion for her and letting us in on her emotional uproar. It's a wonderful pairing adding so much to this performance.
