I bought this book a few months back but never read. But today, I wanted a light read- a simple, easy to relate, fast one. And the book didn’t disappoint. The love story flows easily. I was hooked to the book and I loved the idea that love is not always about perfection- but understanding, respect and honesty.

Preeti Shenoy, has told us a marvelous story about marriage not being the bed of roses like we think of it to be. The determination which Nisha shows after the separation from her husband is inspirational. She finds her calling as Akash enters her life.

The book is gripping and a fast read. You wouldn’t keep it down until you finish. It is a good page-turner and the language is simple and lucid. The cover page was a let down and probably that’s the sole reason I didn’t pick the book to read though it was perched on my shelf. :)

P.S: I liked the other cover page though!

Pretty good one. Not too contemporary, but not too traditional either. Easily identifyable characters from your neighbourhood.

A disappointing read... Plain narration.. No imagination.. Shallow characters. You understand the plot in the third page it self and annoyling it does happen the same way no twist no climax.

Wow!! Tat was a really really good work from Preeti. Nisha, the simple plain plimpy Jane kinda gal, hw she suffers nd hw she hd handled wen she was left alone wid two kids, a doting mother, hw she overcomes nd stands strong wid support from Akash... . It can be easily related. Its really a motivating book for so many other Nishas around there.. This book is really close to my heart.. Good work Preeti.. Keep writing more..

I was pleasantly surprised when I realised the book had a very nice storyline which I didn’t expect. The flow of the plot was very nice (what plot?!) and it was a little wishful and dreamy at times as well.

A nice romantic story apt for modern Indian population. The ending was rushed but in a way that made sense because there was nothing more to write and everything was already said. The story had to have an ending somewhere and it did - that was how it was. Not really impressive- a very novice writer act.

But apart from that the initial 60% of the story was nice and though some of the plot turns were expected I still could mark few quotes that were so beautiful and apt.

And yes, Akash is a darling. And though the one liner of the story can be equated to the classic Sachin Tendulkar - Anjali love/age difference spin off which is always quoted as examples by 90s kids, it was overall it is a feel good book and a nice one time read.

Not good! Not good! Not good! How this got voted as a bestseller is beyond me.

The story: All there on the back cover. Nothing more, nothing less. The front cover was kinda pretty, though
The characters: Seem terribly superficial and shallow. In fact, all descriptions of the characters seem to be about appearances and nothing else. The main female character is quite down in the dumps cos of her weight issues, but she flashes a bit of cleavage in the beginning, and seems to win the heart of the guy she eventually marries (and gets dumped by)! Shallow and how!
The language is just a sad attempt to use words that try hard to glamorize otherwise boring sentences, and the attempt falls flat on its face. The layout is as linear as a pole. There are some attempts at humor, but the "jokes" are really lame. The mills and boonsiness of the whole thing gets annoying after a few pages.
The ending: blah!
If you're into mills and boons kinda crap, maybe this book is for you. Else, skip it, by all means.

i agree with a previous reviewer - there isn’t much more to the book than what’s in the blurb on the back. i’m always happy to support authors from around the world but i’m unlikely to pick this one up again

While browsing through CROSSWORDS (I always try and visit one of their stors when I am in India), looking to pick up some books, the cover and title of this book caught my attention. On reading the description, I decided to give it a try. I generally don't read a lot of Indian authors but I am always looking to try them out and maybe find a few favorites.

So with much anticipation, the book started well, it was going ok, I am still open to the plot without passing an opinion and keep on reading trying not to judge the writing and put it in the same box as my other disappointments of reading various such books.

Here we go, for once the plot was mature. The character developments, good to a point. The pace was not smooth . The interactions between the characters kind of felt off which made the whole reading experience like it was lacking that spark of interest one would need to devour a book.

I kind of finished the book on a low.

I may try some other books by the author before deciding whether I like the author's reading or not.

What could have been a compelling plot is handled in a callous manner, with superficial characters and below average prose. Can easily be given a miss. Or, if you read it with zero expectations, on a day you don't have anything else to read, you might just like it. I skimmed through it for the most part, having finished it in less than an hour.
