Brothers compete for the affection and attention of an emotionally distant mother, and the young woman who stole the hearts of these brothers searches to find her place in the family. Secrets are kept until the discovery of a body in the church attic brings them to the surface.
I ended up loving this book. It’s beautifully written with evocative language and poignant observations on life. I became invested in the lives of these deeply developed characters. The ending was satisfying, but I was sorry to leave this family’s world.
