2.5. Had to wait to the very end to get to the party and there were a lot of bizarre twists that seemed to just be added randomly. All of the characters were bizarre and unlikable.

They play a game called Wizards and Dungeons. It sounds really bad. I'm glad I play Dungeons and Dragons instead.
Also, the story was super scary.

This is my first RL Stine (I was a Christopher Pike girl as a teen). I understand why he's popular. The writing is good and the story was twisty/turny, and the ending made sense. It's difficult to not compare it to Pike's books. I feel like Stine is more down to earth and realistic, and Pike is ridiculous and outlandish-almost like Bizarro fiction light.
Overall, I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would and look forward to reading more Fear Street.
