Vince and Maeve had great chemistry but the storyline didn’t wow me. I felt like it was a little repetitive with Maeve’s issues with her ex. I also thought it was weird when Vince called her “pet” I didn’t understand that nickname at all. It felt like a lot of “issues” were brought up and none of them were really the main focus. Like I thought the financial differences between them would be a big deal then they weren’t then I thought her insecurities would show with meeting his family and then they didn’t. I thought at some point her ex or his family would pop back up and they didn’t. I wondered if their racial differences would matter and they didn’t. Idk it was kind of the same conversation over and over again. I didn’t like Vince trying to make her jealous by dancing with those girls at the club and then again with the strippers that felt childish and manipulative to me. I wish we got to see a little more of them during away games or bonding instead of the same tired conversations. But the banter with all the characters was great and the chemistry between Maeve and Vince was amazing and I will def be reading Jaxson and Graces story!

4.5 stars! Maven is a social media promoter and while she wants to highlight community works and those giving to the community, her job just got a deal with the Tampa hockey team to follow their rookie star player for one month with 24/7 access. That player is Vince and while he is known as a hotshot player and a party boy, he is swept off his feet by Maven. Maven was hurt in a previous relationship with an athlete so she tries to keep Vince at arms length. But Maven and Vince can't deny their chemistry and get wrapped up in each other. The tension in this book was great. The biggest reason they can't be together is Maven's fear of being hurt again, but it was done so perfectly in this book that it made sense that she had trauma from her previous relationship and not just her pulling back for no reason. This book was very spicy. If you are looking for a spicy, sports romance, this one was perfection!
