My first Kandi book

I know I know! How could I wait so long?! Honestly it's because I've heard that Kandi is like the Queen of angst and angst gives me so much anxiety! But I am so glad I decided to read this. The angst was just right! The spice! Sweet lord the spice was top tier. I can truly say that I'm a Kandi Steiner fan. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

DNF 10% Ok, we get it, all of the girls are skinny. I have no interest in reading about all the petite flat-stomached girls.

Another fantastic and smutty read from my girl Kandi. I’ve loved every single book of hers that I’ve read. Ready to read book #2!

Vince and Maven are Chefs Kiss. The chemistry was fantastic, the desire was even better. So so so good!

Entertaining

I love a good hockey romance and this one didn’t fail me. I liked the writing and storyline. I felt for Maven even though at times while reading I wanted to shake some sense into her. Vince and her were a great match and they made for a cute couple. A lot of spice scenes, but you also were able to read about beautiful romantic moments that were just heartfelt.

I love love loved this book! Ahhh hockey romance does it for me ! The only reason this wasn’t a 5⭐️ for me was the FMC was annoying at points. The only ex thing went on for too long but other than that OBSESSED

can't even lie... its been less than 24 hours since I finished the book and I can't remember anything from the plot lmao

also this cover is ugly as hell. genuinely embarrassed to have this on my account

This book has everything I want from an “enemies” (I use this word loosely) to lovers/forced proximity/wrong impression trope. Our FMC has been burned by an pro athlete before and has since painted them and all wealthy people with the same brush. And is, quite honestly, outright hostile and rude to so many people which was incredibly grating for the first part of the book. Our MMC has oniony layers that are revealed as she spends time with him and despite her lack of situational awareness, she finally realizes he’s been falling in love with her the whole time. Vince and the supporting cast help to make up for what Maven lacks. I like her confidence and understanding that her assignment is just a means to an end but I really did not like how rigid she was in her opinion of anyone similar to Vince.

4.5 stars

Kandi Steiner + hockey romance = me dropping everything to read this book. And it did not disappoint.

Most hockey romances I’ve read are set in college so this was a refreshing change of scenery.

The chemistry between Vince and Maven was undeniable. I loved the push and pull between them.

When the main conflict is one of the characters resisting the relationship because of past insecurities, it can sometimes get frustrating to read about but at no point did I feel like I wanted to hurl my book across the room. There was a fine balance between everything happening and even when one of them would fuck up, they’d own it and resolve it. I think Maven’s arc was done perfectly but maybe I wanted a little more for Vince’s arc. There was so much build up on his career and rookie status but the resolution for him felt a little rushed.

But the way I became completely absorbed in this world and these characters? I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this series.
