Meet Your Match

Kandi said she was in her Hockey Romance era. I wasn’t sure how i was going to like it after loving her football era but boy was I wrong.

I LOVED this book.

“Oh, she’s not my girl,” Vince said, his eyes twinkling a little bit when they met mine. “Not yet, anyway.”

“Livia, James broke me,” I said, pushing up so I could look her in the eyes. I hated how my voice trembled. “But Vince? He… he could kill me.” “Or he could bring you back to life.”

I absolutely loved these two, their connection and chemistry. The heroine was relatable with her fears and being a women who wants to be known for her job and not who she is dating, and Vince had that perfect mix of steam and sweetness.

I would have loved a bit more angst or conflict, it was pretty easily resolved.

But I did love this new world, and I cannot wait for the next one!!! Teammates little sister, yes, please.

Audiobook - narrators were enjoyable! Definitely worth a listen!

hmmm this wasn’t too bad and it wasn’t too great. the writing was decent, but not immersive enough. but then the romance was believable and the whole hockey friend group thing was intriguing. maven was interesting?? i guess?? but then her whole ex-bf holding her back thing fell a little flat. and then vince had no qualms he j kind of fell in love immediately? idk there’s just something missing from these types of na books, like a little conflict or a slower burn?

i don’t even have many thoughts on this book, that’s how unimmersive it was. but i think i’m still going to read the next book and see if that one’s any better.

5/5 stars.

Another BANGER from Kandi Steiner - not like I expected much else. I loved seeing Maven go on her healing journey to recover from her horrible ex, and (as always) I loved seeing Vince fall to his knees for Maven because he was so in love with her. Everything I needed and more was within this book.

And the fact that Vince made POTTERY??? Hottest fucking thing I've ever heard.

kandiiii steiner i will love you forever truly

Back in my hockey romance era, and I’m not mad about it!

Working through my KU TBR is really bringing up some gems. I enjoyed this book so much! There was great banter between the couple and their friends/teammates, delicious chemistry between the main characters and the spice was stunning!

Meet Your Match is the first book in the Kings of the Ice series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Maven and Vince meet at an event, and they do not hit it off. She’s there for work as she’s a social media influencer, and he’s at the event because it’s for his hockey team. She instantly writes him off as a cocky playboy, especially with his reputation. Maven wants
nothing to do with Vince, it’s instant attraction for him.

Then Maven gets the job of spending an entire month with Vince Tanev. She has to give people an inside view of the life of Vince, the hotshot rookie.

Maven is humble. She didn’t come from money and became successful on her own. Vince, on the other hand, grew up with money, never wanting for anything. And he’s cocky. They’re total opposites.

Maven wants nothing to do with Vince, not with his reputation, and especially since her heart was broken by someone just like him — a rich, cocky, athlete. But Vince isn’t going to give up, no matter how hard she tries to push him away.

The tension, the push and pull, I loved it. The chemistry between these two is explosive and so damn HOT. I loved how Maven easily gave back whatever Vince threw at her. They just had such great banter and a real connection, despite coming from such different backgrounds.

Now, I will say that I almost didn’t like Vince. When he wanted to make Maven jealous…yeah, that part pissed me off. But he did redeem himself. He always made sure she not just felt included but was actually included and that she belonged where she was (she didn’t feel like she belonged with the rich hockey players).

He really listened to her and invested in what made her happy. I may have swooned there. Maven really had to push through her fears and got the closure she needed. I was so happy that she was able to let go of the hold her past had on her.

This book was my first by Kandi Steiner, but it won’t be the last.

Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
Forced proximity
He fell first and harder
Opposites attract
Hockey romance
Workplace romance
Reformed playboy

I was in the mood for a fun hockey romance and this was exactly what I was looking for. There’s so many college hockey romances out there it was a lot of fun to read one with professional hockey. Maven and Vince were cute, strangers that meet one night at a gala and then end up having to spend a bunch of time together since she’s helping run social media for the company she works for and he’s the focus for the page. There’s a bit of push and pull between them that ends up in a friend with benefits situation. Kandi is always so good at writing hot spicy scenes as well.

Only thing I didn’t love was how there were multiple times where Vince got jealous (irrationally so in my opinion) which lead to him acting out and trying to make Maven jealous by getting close to other women. I love a good jealously moment, but didn’t love how it played out here.

I’m excited to keep reading the series. The next one should be fun, but I’ll be waiting for Daddy P for sure!

“You have me so fucked up, Maven. Every waking hour, every waking minute of my life is wrecked by thoughts of you. You are so deep-seated in my mind, in my being. I will never be rid of you.”
