I wanted to love this book so much. I wanted to love it. I even tried to gaslight myself into liking it. But I couldn’t even do this. I hate ow drama in books that aren’t mafia or dark romance. Why is there ow drama in a hockey romance??? “You’re a regular normal civilian….act like it.” First time was when they were at a club and Vance asked maven to dance and she said no cause she was tired this man child went and grabbed two women to dance with. And the second time, it was after they had s3x for the first tome, was when he saw her talking to his friend and laughing with him this loser man child went and grabbed a women to grind on him and was shocked that she was mad. Maven is better than me because I would have left his dusty ass and made him grovel and jealous at the same time. Maven was the best, I love her! She deserved better than to be treated like shit by Vance. I was so disappointed because this book had so much potential. And there was om drama in the sense that she went in a date, not to make him jealous because she’s not a child, but so Vance could leave her alone but this man ends up at the restaurant anyways. And her best friend told Vance which restaurant she was going to. Like?????? If that was my friend I would be hella mad. I love Kandi and her writing but this one just fell flat for me. I’m excited for the other books in the series to come out though. Coach and Daddy P are gonna get their own book and I cannot wait!!
The way he would get “violent” at times scared me a bit tbh. She looked like a promising character for the first half of the book, but then it was annoying how every three pages she would talk about her ex boyfriend and convince herself that all the men in sports were the same.

I think it did drag a little in the middle; the miscommunication/not admitting feelings and repeated encounters could have used some variation, but the last 30% of the book was my favourite!
I really felt the love between the characters, especially by the end. I do like a slow burn too, although I had picked this up expecting erotica - it’s written a lot more like a traditionally published romance (just with extra spice) which I didn’t expect but it wasn’t wholly unwelcome.
I think I’ll definitely give the rest of the series a go as I loved the humour and references in this!
