I thought this was a solid 4/5 star read. Vince was an awesome MMC throughout the entire book. Loved his character! But the FMC, Maven, meh not so much. While I admire and love reading about strong, independent female characters, Maven came off as judgmental and sometimes rude in the book. But I will still be reading the rest of the books when they are released because the supporting characters seemed great!
I always love a good hockey romance. Not to give too much away but Maven kinda worked my nerves and I appreciate her bestie helping her through her feelings because GIRLLLLLLLLLLL!!! I loved Vince's character he was funny and kinda swoon worthy... kinda... The spice was spicing. For my first Kandi Steiner read I give it a sold 4 stars!
Well that was really fun and omg that SPICE.. send help!!
Podcast star Maven has received the opportunity of a lifetime - follow around NHL rookie Vince for an entire month and document his life 24/7. The only problem is that Venice is STUPID hot and Maven cannot give her heart up again just for it to be crushed. Which she gets this in her head because she knows how these men can be, say and do the right thing and after they get what they want, they leave.
So Maven has this very standoffish personality and a big bark to protect herself, but Vince is eager to break down her walls. Everything will be just fine, right? It's only one month spending every day, all day with one another.
Maven is such a cute little hippy girl. I loved her earthy vibe, very airy and bright. She's the definition of having crunchy parents. Vince comes from money, but his looks are definitely deceiving. I mean this man does pottery for fun.. I am in love.
Alright, let's get to the spice.. oh my. Dirty talk - phenomenal!! Kitty slaps.. YES! A little bonus, but Maven has a thing for hands and same girl. Let me explain.
Vince is doing the dang thing and making pottery when she eyes in on how his hands move... FUCK YES.
Technically a fast burn, but it works. Tell me you wouldn't fall in love with the hot hockey player after spending an entire month hooked at the waist..
Definitely recommend the audio.

4 stars, -1 star because there was so many plot points that were added for the drama that never got resolved. They were addressed and apparently fixed by asserting his dominance over her with the fact that he was stronger and bigger than her. It just gave me a bit of the ick.
tried and true...hockey romances will forever and always have a chokehold on me. I love Kandi's writing style, and Maven and Vince... I LOVE THEM!!!!!
Maven is a queen all on her own, but Vince was so perfect for her and his confidence was everything a MMC needs to have.

Kandi Steiner’s hockey era is here, and I am so ready for it! Meet Your Match is a fun, flirty, and ultra steamy intro to Kings of the Ice World! Overflowing with that characteristic Kandi charm and drowning in two tantalizing sexual will-they-won’t-they tension, Kandi makes this series debut sparkle. There is banter, a secrety cinnamon roll hero, a saucy heroine, enticing side characters, and HOLY SPICE! Kandi definitely brings luxuriously abundant and panty-meltingly delicious smexy times in this hockey romance. The opposites attract energy is taut with sizzle, and the banterific repartee between these two is so entertaining. A fine introduction to this new world!
I have to admit- my Kandi Steiner bar is set pretty high. She’s notorious for delivering heart-melting stories full of fun while also bring layered and powerful character journeys that are truly catalyzed by her uncanny ability to create kinetic and captivating chemistry between her characters. And, well, I don’t think either felt fully realized here. This story didn’t quite capture me like Kandi’s normally do. It’s not that I didn’t like it- but I didn’t love it or obsess over every word like I normally do. This story took me a long time to get into, which isn’t usually my Kandi journey.
And that may be for a few reasons. The world is interesting enough, but it didn’t quite have the specificity of character arc or emotional depth I’ve come to expect. Which might be an unfair expectation, not every book has to have some heavy and profound emotional layer to one or both of the characters- but these characters felt somewhat one note to me, which made their chemistry feel mostly sexual than nuanced. And hey, the sexual chemistry was FIRE. These two are loads of fun together even if they both feel like a hot mess at times- they are definitely a couple I’d love to party with LOL. But I never quite felt a real emotional connection between them- and the conflict and resolution felt hasty in going there.
But most of all, I found myself frustrated often with Maven. I’m extremely conscious of how hard readers can me on the female main character, and Maven may suffer a bit for that. I empathize with her for her own relationship baggage, but I also wanted her to grow her own self-awareness a bit more too. Vince wasn’t perfect in his past, but her constant judgment and assumptions started to feel cyclical and unfair. Obviously realistic, we can be our own worst enemies sometimes, but even in the end I wanted a bit more growth for her. The narrator for her, however, was freaking fantastic- I loved the performance overall and found the range she brought to the performance really well done.
All in all, I did like the story and Kandi always brings a lot of charisma- and we have that here. The plot is a bit more subdued, which was a nice change of pace. So, I liked it- even if I didn’t love it. The side characters certainly intrigue and that potential certainly boosted my enjoyment too- I found myself thirsting for their back stories even as this one was unfolding. I can tell this crew is gonna be loads of fun….and extra naughty. So I’m excited about this new world- there are clearly awesome stories to tell her! Can’t wait for our next outing with my favorite trope too!

Real rating is probably closer to 3 stars. But *spoiler* this book feels like the only one in the last five I’ve read without somebody being in a coma and/or somebody birthing twins. For that reason, I’m rounding up.
