Meet Your Match
Kings of the Ice 1
By: Kandi Steiner
Narrated by: Edward Black, Megan Wicks
Kandi Steiner always pulls me in and invests my heart in her stories! I am hooked on her new series, Kings of Ice and with her first book, we meed Vince Tanev, rookie player that is making a name for himself. The new social media influencer for the team, Maven has already formed her opinion of the rookie after meeting him at a charity auction. Immediately, the two are at odds, with sparring banter that is meant to keep her heart away from the hunk! She has been hurt before by an athlete and she has no intention of letting another worm his way into her life. But now, Maven's assignment puts her right in the line of fire. She has to be with Vince 24/7 for the next month. Will she be able to keep her heart safe? Will Vince even be interested? Just enough angst, a lot of witty banter and a good look at the team, Steiner had my attention and it never let go. From Vince's confident manner, he is thrown into feelings that are new to him. Maven is guarded, but will Vince melt the wall around her heart? I loved this story, the way it takes enemies to lovers, the team camaraderie and the way Steiner knows how to keep it fresh. A great start to this series!
Narrated by Edward Black and Megan Wicks, we are treated to a duet performance, keeping all the voices with their performers. Black has a fantastic alpha tone to his voice, exuding the confidence this rookie has. He can charm the pants off of anyone! Wicks is pulling the layers off Maven, one by one as we see her begin to cave to feelings. This is a fabulous pairing and fun listen!

This was a cute book to start the series. I wasn’t a huge fan of the whole social media coverage of the book but it was her job and premise of the book it just wasn’t my favorite part of the book. The couple was cute and I liked the way this FWB situation went. The third act breakup wasn’t even a breakup which was nice, it was just needing to see through past struggles that gave the FMC trauma. I wish the MMC would have been more vocal in it other than going only with what she wanted because it didn’t really help them until that last moment. But it was cute and I liked it. The side characters were fun and I’m excited for the little tidbit we got for book 2 in this one as well.
Honestly loved this book! Loved how it was gradually building and there wasn’t too much dramatic conflict. It was a cute lil fluff book, not much depth but still enjoyed the love story
