I wanted to give this more than 4 stars and it looked like I would be doing so for a lot of the book. I was intrigued, had trouble putting the book down, bought into the romance even now that it was established, the mystery of the curse had yet to be solved.. all great things. I particularly liked how being mortal vs immortal was being painted - and how being truly mortal for a time helped the twins come to new insights. That was a great little plot point which made the actions of characters believable.

But honestly? The ending left me underwhelmed. I expected more - more epicness, more trouble and intrigue. The intrigue was so well set up and then how it developed was really underwhelming. The thing with Vesta honestly left me confused more than anything - it was given comparatively little time but then was part of the ending. I feel like it could've been so much more.
The same thing with the well of memory - it's this super dangerous thing almost no one can use but for our main character it's somehow no problem at all and she gets exactly what she wants out of it? There could've been a lot more there but there wasn't.

Then there was the smut - This is personal preference but I like my smut to add something to a book story-wise. It did so at certain points but in this book it hardly did so i found myself skipping through the smut. It was just smut at a lot of points. Which again, is fine, but didn't do anything for me.

For all my complaining I did end up enjoying it which is what 3,5 reflects!

10x better than the last two books! The entire book was filled with so many twists and turns I didn’t want to put the book down.

🜸 okay wtf. i loved the first two books but this flopped so hard in some parts. the storyline was interesting as always and kept me on my toes not knowing what to expect the whole time. claudia being pride's wife and domenico and marcella being half-siblings??????? like. what. my jaw DROPPED at the end finding out what greed did. least favorite brother fr. but besides from the amazing plot twists, it just wasn't a great story. wrath managed to turn every conversation where he didn't want to admit something into sex and emilia just let him. have some self respect girl. AND THEN HE GETS HIS WINGS BACK AND THERE'S LIKE MAGICAL FEATHERS THAT MAKE GOOD SEXY TIME??????? who the fuck approved that. that's weird as hell. not to mention the smut was just weird as well, i can't get over the cringe ass writing and weird phrasing. just say he's fingering you and not "slipping a finger into your essence." 😐😐😐 and vittoria spent this whole book taking on this bad guy role just to switch up at the end and be best friends with emilia again as if she didn't literally murder people and encourage emilia to leave wrath. it's so bonkers. i really had high hopes for this book and it just wasn't great.

i'm sorry but by the start of the second book i knew this trilogy was a plane crash waiting to happen.

The first book: Amazing.
The atmosphere of mystery and paranormal activity within old Italy is just *chef's kiss*. There was an actual progression to the romance both coherent to the plot and the characters. Both Wrath and Emilia had distinct voices and personalities. And I loved watching them interact and banter.

The second book: Puzzling.
I thought we would be entering a new era for our characters and new stakes that are both higher and give them more purpose. We got that, yes. But boiiii was I disappointed by Emilia's decrease in agency and Wrath's constant simping of Emilia. I mean... You're a powerful man with a role to fill in. And never once do I see him play the leader excpt for dramatic effect. His title is overused and only emphasises his 'danger' whenever Emilia and him has any 'spicy' scenes.

The third and final book: Plane fucking Crash.
There's NOTHING. This book is void of a plot and anything sensibly needing of a story. I don't want to pause on every little thing that bothered and angered me because if I did I would be here too long.
PS: I hated Emilia in this book.
