read it for school and i liked it way more than i thought i would! the first half i found pretty slow and boring but the second half was really interesting and it’s a good social commentary on south africa + general experiences of racism in the past and present

the story is compelling and the prose are beautiful, but the structure completely ruined this book for me. it was so hard to tell what was dialogue vs narration and who was speaking when. even after reading and re reading, i still had such a hard time following
