The 6th book in the series is a great look back at the Artemis we have all grown to love and the Artemis we loved to hate.

I love time travel, but I'm incredibly picky. (I know you're shocked, right?) But I actually approve of the way time travel works in this book. It was (almost) perfect. (Except for that cliffhanger ending.)
I was so excited about what Artemis would do with his new magic. It was a complete letdown.
I was just complaining how much I disliked that there was another evil genius kid in the last one, but since it's Artemis vs his past self it's different.
Finally there's someone who can outsmart Artemis Fowl, himself. (In my movie announcer voice.) It was fun watching the Artemis' try to out plot each other.
Though it would've been so much easier if Artemis just told Butler his first name and convinced them who he was! Like most of the book would've been unnecessary. They needed a reason why that couldn't work.
Current Butler was barely in this one, because he didn't time travel, but we met past Butler, which was weird. (And past Mulch.)
Holly and Artemis's friendship was truly tested in this book. I love their friendship! The romance I could've done without. Why can't a boy and a girl ever just be friends? At least their friendship survived everything and hopefully it stays just friendship.
The plot was good, and there were lots of twists (maybe a few too many.) I loved Artemis vs Artemis, but Kronski is the most cliched villain yet, (and that's saying something.)
The ending was both awesomely great and incredibly annoying. Just when you think it's over, it's not. The last fifty pages were really unnecessary.
But I loved That was the best! Totally worth the plot holes to get it to happen haha.

Not only did he waste it but then he lost it. What was the point of giving him magic to not have fun with it?I was just complaining how much I disliked that there was another evil genius kid in the last one, but since it's Artemis vs his past self it's different.

And Opal is way too overused in this series! She needed to be a one and done bad guy.The ending was both awesomely great and incredibly annoying. Just when you think it's over, it's not. The last fifty pages were really unnecessary.
Spoiler
It was just stupid for Artemis to defeat Opal then just leave her there. I'm pretty sure he could have carried her or just captured her. But no, she has to escape to come after him yet again…But I loved

Lots of good Artemis & Holly moments. Not a fan of time travelling though, it always ends up the same.
Too much animal abuse, not enough fairies.
These are starting to stretch a bit. I can tell we're coming to the end of the series. I still think these are wonderful books for the age they're written for and am glad I'm taking the time to read them. Artemis grows on you. I may even be sad when his saga is over.
A great time travelling adventure for Artemis and his friends, including of course the fairy Holly Short. In the attempt to save his very ill mother, they end up fighting a younger but still dangerous Artemis, and discover a long running evil plot of an even more dangerous enemy. Bonus pages in this edition : the story of Holly Short's initiation as LEPrecon, supervised by Captain Trouble Kelp and Commander Julius Root.
