ARC Review: Sweet Victory (Fighting for Love) by Gina L. Maxwell
AIR CONDITIONER REQUIRED. Ms. Maxwell knows the meaning of spicy romance. Two types of heat: the sexy attraction and irritating drama made for a complicated but addictive story. Sweet Victory shows how a situation of convenience can quickly turn to anything but. Sophie was a smart woman with a dilemma. The jury's still out on Xander. Love him or hate him, his star power is evident. Perhaps that was the draw of the story, because I have yet to make up my mind about Xander. Despite the hero and his at times egotistical behavior, Sweet Victory was a knockout in my opinion.

I love this series and I'm so glad we got one more book in it. I so enjoyed this one. It's a book that was hard to put down. It had two of my favorite things MMA fighter and bakery owner. I just adored Xander. He has true character that runs deep. Plus add in his yummy British accent. Then add in what he does for Sophie and the way he treats her, swoon! What starts out as pretend takes on a whole new meaning when the attraction between these two ignites. Their relationship has a time frame, but what happens when they want to extend it to forever? It's not all smooth sailing for these two, but you root for them the whole way because the connection they create can't be broken. Fans of this series will absolutely love the epilogue. One of my favorite parts.
As a new reading to Gina L Maxwell, I am really enjoying the concept of her stories and Sweet Victory does not disappoint. While the story is really out of the box, there is just enough angst, passion and twists to make a great story! Xander may piss you off at times, but he is still so swoon worthy and his passion for Sophie is scorching! This book evoked a full range of emotions too. You laughed, wanted to cry and really wanted to hit someone! Overall, I really enjoyed this quick read, so much so I have to go back to read the rest of the series!

I loved all 4 of the Fighting for Love books but I think Sweet Victory was my favorite. I just loved the setting, the bakery, the way Sophie was with her Grams, how Xander was trying to keep himself away from Sophie knowing their relationship had a time limit of sorts. but what I loved most was it wasn't the Hero that had to make up for the misunderstanding, Sophie realized the mistake she made and she made the grand gesture and that was a beautiful thing to read.
With Xander trying to make his way back into the fighting world he is training hard, but is facing things that could deter his path, but every day he finds joy in walking by the local bakery and seeing Sophie. Sophie is doing everything she can to keep her grandmother’s bakery afloat, but her conniving uncle has devious plans up his sleeves and when Xander finds out his overprotective instincts kick in. What ensues is an idea that they join forces and arrange to get married, but neither one of them is prepared for the roller coaster ride of feelings and chaos that will happen. I absolutely loved Xander because of his dedication to his training and Sophie is incredible making it easy to fall for him. The story is hot and fun with lots of banter that made me devour it all at once.
Such a perfect end to one of my favorite series. Xander and Sophie are amazing, and that epilogue...
Sorry to see it over, but couldn't love these books any more than I do!
