Not one of the best or Neil gaimans but not a bad read

Mostly felt like a lot of nothing which honestly kinda felt inspiring to write my own work

I also recognize it was one of his first works which I think deserves a level of leeway

Also love a just a regular dude plot who doesn't actually want to do the whole grand chosen one plot and just kinda wants to live his normal life

I still remember it clearly: I was 11 years old, in fifth grade, and a woman working for a Finnish publisher was visiting our school. She introduced us some new series and also read a few first chapters of some of these books, one of which was Neverwhere. Beware of doors. That quote really intrigued me.

And low and behold! On my 12th birthday not long after, I got Neverwhere from my little brother. It was something I had never read before. I instantly became a fan of Gaiman.

Since then, for almost two decades now, it has remained as one of my favourite novels as I've read it again and again, year after year. This time I actually listened to the audiobook, read by Gaiman himself. Highly recommended.

The short story How the Marquis Got His Coat Back was included in the Neverwhere audiobook on Audible. I absolutely love Neverwhere so I was excited to listen to this story years and years after reading Neverwhere for the first time. I really liked it.

Neil Gaiman, reads this himself and he is a fabulous story teller. This is a story about finding your place in the world and not settling for good enough or what people expect. That is what I got out of it. There is death, pain and some suffering and a lot of magical moments through the world below London. I lost time while listening which is a sign of a winning book for this listener.

Decent story, but pretty much basic urban fantasy.
