If you enjoyed Verity you would enjoy this book as well. If you’re early in the book and think you have the twist figured out, you’re wrong. Keep reading.

Welp, I didn't see that coming in the best kind of way. What ever you thing is going to happen, is wrong and I love it.

Honestly was gonna be an okay ish mystery with an insufferable main character, but then the twist happens that… makes literally no sense because there is NO FORSHADOWING. None.

The twist was stupid and dropped my enjoyment of it, and makes this book in retrospect, dumb.
The main character at the beginning and at the end feel like two different people.
. And the secondary twist was unnecessary - wow. Well. At least
the main couple deserve each other

If this was written in third person it would be better, because then it would have been easier to hid the lies the various characters tell. In first person, it makes no sense because why would they lie in the first person, without it being a letter or something??

This book is full of twists and turns, one’s that make you say, “HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS COMING” then another, “omg DUH!” and then a “holy shit!” That’s the only way I can describe this book without giving away spoilers. If you’re on the fence about reading it, just do it. If you love glimpses into psychology and how the brain works, you’ll find yourself highlighting sentences like you’re in PSYCH101.

The book was giving lifetime suspense movie. Not in a bad way but nothing wow’d me in particular. It was an easy read, fast pace book. I will say i didn’t expect whodunit; however, there wasnt anything thought provoking about the novel. If you want to read a little murder mystery that has a lifetime movie vibe, i can see you really liking this.

The twists will give you whiplash until the last page. Also what is up with Trisha’s mother? She’s gotta have problems.

The internet persuaded me to read this one, and I did so in 5 hours. Starting with the dislike, the actual writing style isn't particularly great; it's very simple, which makes it quick to get through but the actual text not particularly vibrant. This seems to be a common theme with thrillers; I wish they'd take time to develop their prose a bit more. But I am particularly picky. In terms of plot, for the first half I was sceptical, and mainly kept reading because I found the book frustrating.
I think the unreliable narrator became far too obvious far too quickly due to the absurdity of the situation.
Additionally, all the characters grated. I don't mind unlikeable, but it did also increase my reading speed as I just didn't really want to be hearing about them any more. Luckily, the plot evolved nicely and made it a worthy read in the end. I guessed several of the twists and made connections for a few more, but as someone who usually sees them all coming, having a few I didn't was a nice change. One of the better thriller's I've read recently. Not perfect, but entertaining.
It was also rather hilarious trying to take the "two can keep a secret..." Line seriously each time whilst hearing the PLL theme tune!
