Famille parfaite

Lisa Gardner

3.95 AVERAGE

Starting at a slow pace, the author gradually builds its up towards the finale which was as good as expected. If you prefer a well-written crime novel that is centered around its plot and not much of in-depth character development, I would definitely recommend this read.
dark mysterious tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I didn't expect it to end the way it did. I couldn't imagine being Libby or Ashlyn. This book was full of twists and turns that I didn't expect. I'm new to mysteries but this was definitely one of my favorites so far.

I confess I don't usually like genre books a heck of a lot -- find the plots stretch credibility and the characters are, if you are lucky, 2-dimensional. And when there are sex scenes, well, they are laughable. Not going to say that this book transcends the genre. It didn't. But the plot kept me reading -- wondered who had kidnapped the family and why right up until the reveal. The characters were a bit on the 2D side, but I've seen worse. And... there was no sex! Two characters -- a private eye and a detective are going to date at some point, but their relationship develops slowly and does not interfere with the plot. If you like a good kidnapping yarn - a rich family of three is kidnapped -- and the investigation that goes with it, you should like this book. Decent narrative structure -- moves back and forth between the kidnapping scene and the investigation.

Excellent suspense involving the kidnapping of a family and the race to save them. I had several suspects in mind but really was surprised by the ending. My first read of Lisa Gardner, I'll have to look up more by her!

This is another hit by Lisa Gardner. I loved it. This is my second venture into Tessa Leoni, and I think I enjoyed this one more than the first. When I thought I had it figured out, the ending surprised me. I can't wait to pick up the third one. This plot was so intricately woven and I loved all of the characters. There were many surprises that I wasn't expecting.

I loved this book! I had suspicions, but not confirmation until the end for what really happened.

What It's About:

Why You Should Read It:

Read it if you like page-turning suspense with an intense pace.

Just One Look by Harlan Coben

Another really good read from Lisa Gardner.
Although this book has Detective D.D. Warren, she only has a minor role in the beginning, as this book begins the spin off into the Tessa Leoni books. We first met Tessa in "Love You More", part of the D.D. Warren series.
This was a really good read. Libby and Justin seem to have it all; a great marriage, a lovely teenage daughter, a beautiful home, lots of friends, and lots of money. Although everything may seem perfect Libby's life has just been thrown for a major tailspin as she recently finds out that her husband, the man she loves, has been cheating on her. Not only is her life in an unbelievable upheaval at the moment but then something unimaginable happens. Libby, her husband, and daughter are kidnapped. Even though the family is rich and Justin owns a multi-million dollar company, the kidnapping seems to be about more than simply a ransom.
A great page turner that will keep most guessing (I figured it out).
