I am not a surgery person. The only knowledge I have about surgery prior to this book comes from grey's anatomy. I would not consider myself particularly interested in surgery generally speaking.

This book was entertaining and informative. It was easy to understand. A very accessible read. I found my jaw dropping open at some of the things surgeons did and how recently they've done them. The thing I found myself frequently thinking: "the things they used to just let you do"

Honestly, I'm so glad I read this book, and I can't wait to read even more on the subjects explored within with direction from the further reading section.

If you're looking for an entertaining, informative, but accessible book on A History of Surgeries, this is THE book.

Interesting and entertaining. For fans of "The Knick."

Entertaining.
Interesting.
A trip through the most remarkable events of the surgery.
It cannot be taken as more than an accessible introduction to this discipline but I doubt that those who come to this book are looking for much more. In any case, it seems absolutely recommendable to me.

The first part (history of general surgery) dragged on a little for me, but the sections on heart surgery, plastic surgery, and brain surgery were really fascinating.
