I really enjoyed this book, in spite of it not having a resolution at the end. Or at least, not the resolution I wanted. Other things were resolved in a way that was satisfying and I’d like to read book 2. Google tells me it’s a duology but there seems to be no info about the second book yet after two years since book 1 was published. Sadness.

Wow, this is a total gem! The low rating this has is a total travesty & many of the reviews here have me totally baffled.

Huerta's world building is lush, inviting, and evocative. The characters immediately had my affections. The magic system is beautiful. The plot slowly circling around itself was expertly done. There are so many hints and clues along the way, that come into sharp focus at the final reveal. I absolutely loved this.

I am distressed that the only update on book 2 I can seem to find says it was estimated to come out in 2023. I would like more, please!!

Very slow going at first. It wasnt until the end I could see how the story wove together. It is a storytelling format I don't love bit I can appreciate it. The last 50 pages really heat up which is a good thing as it was pretty slow goes. Pretty good first book. I wish I had known it would be the start of a series going in. I would read the second book.

Let me start by saying THANK YOU to Bookish First for sending me this book! I was so incredibly excited to receive it. This cover is gorgeous, I fell in love at first sight!

The world building in this book is PHENOMENAL. I haven’t read a book like this before, talking in depth about dreamers, and seers and their traditions and I thought it was so interesting and amazing go learn about. I was very intrigued while reading! I love learning about things unknown to me and diving into something new!

I will say, I was VERY confused towards the end. I felt like I was bamboozled by Lizz because when I found out Indir was Saya’s mom I was in shock! I thought their storylines/POVs happened at the same time, but it all made sense once it was explained! We basically got to see Indir’s story and then the beginning of Saya’s (because I know it ain’t over yet).

I was left wanting more, meaning I need to know what happens next! I’m hoping another book is in the works!

I really enjoyed this book! Definitely recommend

I wanted to love this, but I’m left with a lot of mixed feelings.

What worked for me:
1. That cover
