A sweet story. The timeline in it is a bit off and I would have liked a little more self actualization from the main character. However, if you ignore all that, it’s a sweet and simple (slightly predictable) story.

Although I have liked other books by Phaedra Patrick, this book was very...blah. Although it was a feel-good book, it was predictable from the first chapter. I won't be recommending this book to others.

If you’ve read The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper the you’ll have an idea of what Phaedra Patrick can do with words. The Secrets of Love Story Bridge starts out rather somberly as Mitchell still grieves the passing of his partner, Anita. He’s a single dad raising their nine year-old on his own and leads a regimented life. He left a demanding job to work in another field that allows him to devote his time to his daughter. One day, while on the job, an accident happens that signals the start of several changes in his life.
The story is sweet, sad and also hopeful. It’s about the power and importance of human connection and is simply a lovely read.

I just loved this sweet, charming story. Mitchell is a widowed man, damaged and sad after the loss of his beloved Anita and trying to raise his daughter with a broken heart and wounded soul. Then life throws a series of events into his lap that forces him to move forward. A beautiful story of perseverance, loyalty and love.

This story was alright, although it didn’t end up being the story I thought it would be. My favorite love story was between Mitchell and Poppy, his 9 Year old daughter. Nii oh t a heavy or complicated story, just less interesting than I was in the mood for.
